He went to many mountains during the winter to ski. He practiced for almost a year. He decided to join a skiing contest. The object of this contest was to see who got to the bottom of the mountain first going around obstacles. When the race started, Mike was extremely nervous. He fell off his skis and fell down the mountains. He came in last. Everyone else made it to the bottom without falling and everyone laughed at him. To improve, he practiced for 2 hours 4 times a week instead of 2 days a week. Mike learned that practicing more often is the right way to go and never giving up will take you to your biggest dream. She worked really hard by making the speech and practicing. The night of the assembly came. She was so excited. She was in the middle of the speech and, all of a sudden, her mind went blank. Everyone started to giggle and laugh. Naomi felt like sinking in to the floor. But, she thought how hard she worked and practiced day and night. She was not going to give up now. She tried to remember the speech and it came back to her head. All of a sudden, she remembered it. She finished her speech and everyone cheered and clapped. She was picked again for the assembly the following year. By: Natalie Mizrahi Yeshivah of Flatbush Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or threat. Fear is responsible for holding people back. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself (Franklin D. Roosevelt.) With this attitude, we can accomplish anything we put our minds to. Being kids, there are many people who degrade and belittle us and damage our confidence making us feel like such a small voice in this big world. As we get older, we will continue to encounter people like this. We cannot allow the fear to get to us. Fear stunts our growth causing us to not reach our fullest potential. They should go on that ride. If someone believes in Hashem that he will protect you, it’s all in his hands. We shouldn’t make ourselves all nervous and work ourselves up. Once they go on the ride, they will say, “That was fun” and she will be happy once she conquers her fears. If we get scared about something, we think of all nonsense in our heads because we are making ourselves crazy. We shouldn’t do that. It won’t do anything in life. We can’t get anywhere if we have fear about every little thing. You can’t think right if you have fear about something.
