Dachstein-Tauern<br />
<strong>Golf</strong> & Country Club<br />
While course Designer Bernhard Langer is especially<br />
enthused by the marvellous view <strong>of</strong> the Dachstein and the<br />
surrounding mountain tops, <strong>Golf</strong> & Country Club Dachstein<br />
Tauern, which was founded in 1987, is mostly known for its<br />
excellent course layout. Despite being elegantly embedded<br />
into the alpine landscape, the championship course<br />
rather reminds sophisticated golfers <strong>of</strong> places like Pebble<br />
Beach, Florida, due to its many water hazards and the<br />
glistening white quartz sands.<br />
Just like the American models, Schladming also has a<br />
rather vicious ‘Amen Corner’. Even one or two Pros have<br />
lost more points than planned to the treacheries<br />
between holes 7 and 10, but especially at the ball<br />
hungry ‘Crocodile Hole’. Nevertheless the demanding<br />
establishment makes for a nice golf experience even for<br />
the less trained given the variety <strong>of</strong> tees <strong>of</strong>fered. Besides,<br />
the spectacular mountain scenery and the beautiful<br />
views will compensate for any misguided ball.<br />

und die wunderschönen Blicke durch das Tal die Spieler<br />
für jeden möglichen Fehlschlag entschädigt.<br />
Neben den hohen Standards auf den in sonniger Lage angeordneten<br />
Fairways, will der neue Geschäftsführer des <strong>Golf</strong> & Country<br />
Clubs, Franz Wittmann jun., dessen Vater den <strong>Golf</strong>club Adamstal<br />
leitet (ebenfalls ein <strong>World</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Leading</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> Club) auch im Clubhaus<br />
und Restaurant für gehobene Gastlichkeit sorgen. Für Besucher<br />
seines Clubs „sollen die kostbaren Tage, an denen sie es auf den<br />
<strong>Golf</strong>platz schaffen, zu einem besonderen Erlebnis werden“.<br />
MEMBER FOR A DAY<br />
In accordance to the high standards <strong>of</strong> the fairways<br />
which neatly follow the sunny meadows, the new CEO<br />
<strong>of</strong> the club, Franz Wittman jun., son <strong>of</strong> Franz Wittman,<br />
owner <strong>of</strong> <strong>Golf</strong>club Adamstal – also a <strong>World</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Leading</strong><br />
<strong>Golf</strong> member club, is set upon a friendly and upscale<br />
hospitality in the clubhouse and restaurant. Visitors <strong>of</strong><br />
his club are “supposed to relish a unique experience,<br />
when they for once find the time to spend their day on<br />
the golf course.”<br />
Platzdesigner Bernhard Langer selbst schwärmt zwar gerne von<br />
dem Blick auf den Dachstein und die umliegenden Bergspitzen<br />
als “Abenteuer für die Augen”, der 1987 gegründete <strong>Golf</strong> & Country<br />
Club Dachstein Tauern ist jedoch vor allem für sein hervorragendes<br />
Design bekannt. Denn der elegant in die alpine Land -<br />
schaft eingebettete Championship Course erinnert weltgewandte<br />
<strong>Golf</strong>er aufgrund seiner vielen Wasserhindernisse und dem strahlend<br />
weißen Quarzsand eher an den Pebble Beach in Florida.<br />
Ganz nach seinen amerikanischen Vorbildern hat auch Schladming<br />
