KING SOLOMON
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL
Primary Head Teacher Statement
Excellence in Primary education is to provide the opportunity to nurture the
individual child, enabling them to develop their potential intellectually,
emotionally, socially, spiritually, culturally, morally and physically. It is vital to
provide a caring, enriched educational environment in which children can
learn and thrive. A positive ethos, differentiated curriculum and wider
community contacts are essential factors which promote primary excellence.
A primary phase ethos based on Christian character development, care for the
uniqueness of the individual child, effective communication systems and
community spirit extending to the wider community in which the primary
phase is set enables the early years child to feel part of a larger family in which
and from whom they can learn. A differentiated Foundation Stage curriculum
which matches the learning to the needs, extends capabilities of the child and
develops their experiences across the Early Years goals is provided. Gradually
the children are able to become more independent and take on responsibility
for their own learning and progress through target setting as they journey
through key stages one and two.
Throughout the whole of the early years, ks1 and ks2 there is an emphasis on
the development of literacy and maths skills. In-order for children to achieve
their best across a variety of learning domains a focus on personalised learning
is provided, enabling children to learn in the way that best suits them as an
individual. The child who can develop a range of skills and concepts from a
variety of learning experiences, using first hand enquiry investigative
approaches to aid independent learning, drawing from the creative, expressive
arts, E. learning, business and international environment whenever possible is
experiencing excellence in Primary education.
The classroom climate should evidence that children are participating and
engaging in lessons to make progress. They need to be working independently
and collaboratively investigating and solving problems. Displays should be
interactive and culminate from a variety of learning situations. Children need
to take responsibility for their learning in partnership with the teacher and the
parent, setting targets and goals and being given opportunities to succeed and
receive merit for their success.
A primary age child who has access to the above is for the main part a child
that represents Primary education at its best.
What makes
King Solomon Special?
Innovative international business focus
The school creates advantages for students through its international outlook.
We believe that in the single market global economy, internationally recognised qualifications will become more
relevant and useful. We follow the National Curriculum in our Primary and Secondary School, but tailor the
curriculum to embrace the highly regarded International Baccalaureate (IB) profile, so that students in our Sixth
Form, can study and achieve the IB Diploma and IB Career Related Certificate programmes.
The IB Diploma is a prestigious qualification favoured by many overseas international schools and a growing number
of leading schools in the UK. It is academically demanding while addressing non-academic skills and character
development. It is a sought after qualification on the international stage.
We specialise in international business and enterprise and work closely with international companies to equip
our students, developing skills aligned to ever changing business needs of the global economy. By offering a
globally respected curriculum we provide an advantage for our pupils in the international market.
Open to all
We are a non fee-paying, non-selective, co-educational school, which
means our school is free to attend, open to boys and girls, and no
qualifying entry exams.
As an all-through school, we are able to provide a continuity and
progression of curriculum for students from 4 years old right through to
completing their education in Sixth Form.
High attainment expectations
We provide a secure and supportive learning environment, tailored to the
needs of individual students, working in partnership with parents. We
have high expectations of our students meeting, ambitious learning
targets and achieving strong personal results.
Strong discipline
Student self-discipline and respect for others is paramount. The
Primary phase has a value based approach to student conduct and
behaviour, congruent with the Nine Testament Biblical character
development "Fruit of the Spirit". There is a strict dress code with a clear
school uniform policy which all students are expected to follow
throughout the school.
A non-denominational Christian school
We are a Christian school, open to all Christian denominations, faiths and
cultures. Rooted in the Christian tradition, the School provides an
education that builds character and enables students to develop toward
being complete spiritual, moral, social and emotional human beings. We
cultivate the "Nine Virtues" of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control which all contribute
to a productive, caring, learning environment.
Primary students are expected to attend to attend Collective Worship daily,
consisting of song, prayer and story for reflection. Celebration services are
held at a local church according to the Christian calender.
Greater opportunities for learning
extended school day
To provide a comprehensive all-round education, the school
operates a 42 week school year (four weeks longer than normal).
The Primary School day runs from 8.45 to 15.30, with before and
after school club provision.
The extended school year provides opportunities for extra
curriculum activities and enrichment opportunities.
We operate a firm and fair approach to behaviour management.
Pastoral care and character development
We aim to provide the highest possible level of care, support and learning
so that every pupil achieves the very best they can. Primary School pupils
will be taught in classes up to a maximum of 30. Their class teacher
will be responsible for their academic and pastoral care.
6
Each child is also assigned to one of four school Houses, linked also to
pastoral care and inter-house competition. Many of the school’s
extra-curricular activities are conducted through school Houses,
encouraging a sense of belonging.
Vision, Ethos & Values
Our core vision, ethos and values
Our Vision
To achieve academic excellence, develop students with exemplary character, prepare students to
effectively live, work and trade in the global economy, and ensure that every student succeeds.
Our Ethos
Within King Solomon Primary phase we aim to create a Christian climate of care where all feel
valued, supported and have a feeling of uniqueness and self-esteem. A positive ethos is
provided in which children can feel secure in making positive contribution to all aspects of their
development within their primary years. We wish to foster in the children, a sense of community
and responsibility as well a growing awareness of their place in the wider community.
To achieve this ethos we have adopted a 4C's approach to providing a thriving environment for
all who are part of the Primary phase community, Firstly, we seek to promote the development
of Christian character through a set of nine Christian character fruits, providing a values based
approach to the development of the whole child. Secondly, we seek to provide an atmosphere
of care amongst everyone in the primary phase, each with the other. Thirdly, we seek to
promote an effective communication network between all involved in the life of children in the
Primary phase. We recognize that open communication is essential to the smooth running of the
phase and is indicative of the quality of interaction to be found across the phase. Fourthly, we
seek to foster a community spirit within groups, classes, year groups and across the primary
phase, extending to the Secondary phase, parents and the wider community in which the school
is located.
This 4C’s approach to ethos provides an effective strategy for creating a worthy Primary phase
ethos in which good personal relationships are fostered, a sense of personal and collective
responsibility, team participation and loyalty are promoted.
„
Our aim at King Solomon is to
ensure that all pupils have the
opportunity to grow spiritually,
emotionally and intellectually.
