KING SOLOMON INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL Primary Head Teacher Statement Excellence in Primary education is to provide the opportunity to nurture the individual child, enabling them to develop their potential intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually, culturally, morally and physically. It is vital to provide a caring, enriched educational environment in which children can learn and thrive. A positive ethos, differentiated curriculum and wider community contacts are essential factors which promote primary excellence. A primary phase ethos based on Christian character development, care for the uniqueness of the individual child, effective communication systems and community spirit extending to the wider community in which the primary phase is set enables the early years child to feel part of a larger family in which and from whom they can learn. A differentiated Foundation Stage curriculum which matches the learning to the needs, extends capabilities of the child and develops their experiences across the Early Years goals is provided. Gradually the children are able to become more independent and take on responsibility for their own learning and progress through target setting as they journey through key stages one and two. Throughout the whole of the early years, ks1 and ks2 there is an emphasis on the development of literacy and maths skills. In-order for children to achieve their best across a variety of learning domains a focus on personalised learning is provided, enabling children to learn in the way that best suits them as an individual. The child who can develop a range of skills and concepts from a variety of learning experiences, using first hand enquiry investigative approaches to aid independent learning, drawing from the creative, expressive arts, E. learning, business and international environment whenever possible is experiencing excellence in Primary education. The classroom climate should evidence that children are participating and engaging in lessons to make progress. They need to be working independently and collaboratively investigating and solving problems. Displays should be interactive and culminate from a variety of learning situations. Children need to take responsibility for their learning in partnership with the teacher and the parent, setting targets and goals and being given opportunities to succeed and receive merit for their success.
