Poor sleep: This is a<br />
condition of epidemic<br />
proportions <strong>in</strong> our culture<br />
and most of <strong>the</strong> medications<br />
prescribed to treat only compound<br />
<strong>the</strong> problem. Dur<strong>in</strong>g deep sleep, we<br />
are restor<strong>in</strong>g enzymes, hormones,<br />
neurotransmitters and essentially<br />
restock<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> shelves. When we<br />
are gipped out of restorative sleep,<br />
no amount of coffee truly makes<br />
up for this.<br />

Lack of movement: Exercise begets energy and our sedentary<br />
lifestyles, with long commute times, sitt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> front of <strong>the</strong><br />
computer for most of <strong>the</strong> day, is an absolute drag on our energy. While an<br />
hour work-out is terrific, it does not make up for 8+ hours of sitt<strong>in</strong>g. Build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
up movement throughout <strong>the</strong> day can be a significant energy boost.<br />
Toxic exposures. Alcohol,<br />
mold, mercury, pesticides and<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r chemicals, medications, sugar and<br />
nasty relationships all fall under this category.<br />
Many of us live with <strong>the</strong>se exposures for so long,<br />
we do not th<strong>in</strong>k to associate <strong>the</strong>m with poor<br />
energy. But by directly <strong>in</strong>terfer<strong>in</strong>g with our capacity<br />
to produce energy, <strong>the</strong>y can be a slow<br />
and steady dra<strong>in</strong> on our resources.<br />
<strong>Address<strong>in</strong>g</strong> each of <strong>the</strong>se<br />
issues requires a unique<br />
approach.<br />

Thoughts. Selfdeprecat<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
sham<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
rum<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g, judgmental thoughts<br />
are a true energy sump. By b<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and constrict<strong>in</strong>g us, <strong>the</strong>y prevent<br />
free flow of energy through <strong>the</strong><br />
system.<br />
