Bistro 61 has been named
It’s been a busy few months for iconic
local restaurant and boutique hotel
Jonah’s at Whale Beach, with the
appointment of a new Executive Chef
and a luxurious rooms transformation.
The stunning renovation, driven
by interior designers Baxter & Thrum,
pays homage to Jonah’s breathtaking
beachside, clifftop location. It
encompasses 11 rooms including the
opulent Peninsula Room, offering more
space with beautifully crafted furniture
pieces and a separate living area to
bedrooms, with the treatment in a
neutral palette with gold accents.
The hotel’s overall room design
allows guests to relax, indulge
and completely unwind while
enjoying thoughtful touches such as
to commemorate the opening
of the Club in 1961. The
kitchen – led by experienced
Northern Beaches head chef
Mitch Blundell, boasts all
fresh, house-made meals, with
locally sourced ingredients.
Open for lunch and dinner
seven days, with extensive
outdoor dining areas, Bistro
61 offers a variety of specials
(lunch and dinner) during the
week, including $12 tacos
(Tues), $15 Chicken Schnitzels
(Wed), 2-4-1 pizzas (Thurs),
and a $20 burger + beer (Fri).
Seniors are well catered
for – there are daily Seniors
specials, including beerbattered
flathead – plus they
do a $5 kids meals on Sundays!
(There’s a playground, too.)

Danish fetta and coriander.

as Head Chef, 2 Hatted Ormeggio at
the Spit, 3 Hatted Quay Restaurant
Sydney, 3 Michelin Star RyuGin in
Tokyo, and Head Chef for the royal
family in Qatar, Doha.
Matteo’s menus showcase
contemporary Australian cuisine with
Italian influences. Jonah’s current
Spring menu is available seven days a
week for lunch and dinner.
