INSPIRE
CAREERS
IN STEM.
The demand for STEM skills
is growing and it’s no secret
that careers in STEM are well
paid and come with longer
term job prospects.
With that in mind, we’ve
developed a series of
workshops that aim to
engage and inspire young
people’s interests in these
key areas, as well as helping
to demystify what careers
in STEM really are.
By taking part in STEM
activities and exploring some
of the great careers built
on science, engineering,
maths and technology, pupils
may be more inclined to
progress into these subject
areas when leaving school.
Suitable for mixed groups
from Year 1 to Year 11, our
STEM workshops can be
delivered at your school or at
one of our campuses, where
pupils will spend time in our
workshops and experience
the practical side of STEM.
Careers in STEM
Careers in STEM don’t
have to be dirty. They’re
about creativity, problem
solving and great
communication skills.
Have your pupils ever
wondered how complex
structures are built? With
lots of tooth picks and
midget gems (or playdough
and straws for
younger groups) we’ll
ask your pupils to design
the frame of a building or
landmark! From the Angel
of the North to the Burj Al
Arab, the possibilities are
endless, fun and inspiring.
Who is it for?
Year 1 to Year 11
Through this hands-on
activity, pupils will learn
about environmentally
friendly ways to power
lights and clocks. Using
a range of alternative
resources including
lemons, apples, water
and potatoes, they will
get to make their own
environmentally-friendly
batteries and watch their
appliances power up!
Who is it for?
Year 6 to Year 11
Taking place in our
commercial workshops,
pupils will get to use
a range of industrystandard
hand tools.
They’ll be given a different
activity at each visit,
making a number of
components from various
materials whilst being
taught how to use the
tools safely and correctly
by our team of experts.
Pupils will also get to
tour the campus and
see our facilities, which
are on-par with the best
in the automotive and
engineering industry.
Who is it for?
Year 5 to Year 11
Who knew salt water
would be enough to
power a car? Pupils will
learn about alternative
fuels and the chemical
reactions that take place
to allow a fuel cell to
work. Working in groups,
they will make their own
salt water mixture and
measure enough out to
power and race their cars
against one another.
Who is it for?
Year 6 to Year 11
Pupils will have the
opportunity to learn
about the structures
of vehicles and the
importance of cars being
made safe. Using a range
of materials to make a
crash-test car, they will
need to put their theory
into practice, making the
car as safe as possible to
protect its one and only
passenger – an egg. How
many eggs will survive
the race and the crash?
Who is it for?
Year 5 to Year 11
We can create a
longer-term project that
provides a more in depth
EDUCATION
THROUGH
PERFORMING
Drama therapy workshops
Our students have created
a series of drama therapy
workshops, which provide
young people with invaluable
strategies and exercises to
cope with anxiety, stress and
depression.
Incorporating drama and
drama therapy techniques
such as relaxation, emotion
memory and forum theatre,
workshops help to raise
awareness of mental health
issues from a young age.
Music workshops
Our Higher Education
Music students are offering
educational music workshops
to school groups in December
and March each year,
covering a variety of topics
from subjects such as science,
history and geography.
Just let us know the topic and
we’ll create the workshop.
