The group also toured
Intel Israel, accompanied by
CEO Maxine Fassberg.
At HumanEyes Technologies,
they met with Professor
Shmuel Peleg, the inventor of
BriefCam, a video synopsis
system used to improve security
at the Rio Olympics and
to identify and apprehend the
perpetrators of the Boston
Marathon bombing. A visit to Mobileye
familiarized participants with the work
of Professor Amnon Shashua, whose
life-saving automobile navigation system
has been installed in millions of vehicles
worldwide. Professor Koby Nahmias,
Director of the Alexander Grass
Center for Bioengineering, shared his
own recent innovation, “liver-on-achip,”
a technology that is revolutionizing
medical diagnostics. Wine tastings
with HU agricultural experts and a tour
of the City of David with HU archaeologists
rounded out the mission.
Israel Innovation, Technology, and the Marketplace Mission attendees
D
uring April 2017, a delegation
from AFHU’s
Mid-Atlantic Region, led by
Steven and Heather Freidkin,
traveled to Jerusalem
on the “Israel Innovation,
Technology, and the Market-
place Mission.” The trip included
interactive visits to startups, which
introduced American Friends to Israel’s
leaders in nanotechnology, cybersecurity,
and biomedicine.
