The group also toured<br />
Intel Israel, accompanied by<br />
CEO Maxine Fassberg.<br />
At HumanEyes Technologies,<br />
they met with Professor<br />
Shmuel Peleg, the inventor of<br />
BriefCam, a video synopsis<br />
system used to improve security<br />
at the Rio Olympics and<br />
to identify and apprehend the<br />
perpetrators of the Boston<br />
Marathon bombing. A visit to Mobileye<br />
familiarized participants with the work<br />
of Professor Amnon Shashua, whose<br />
life-saving automobile navigation system<br />
has been installed in millions of vehicles<br />
worldwide. Professor Koby Nahmias,<br />
Director of the Alexander Grass<br />
Center for Bioengineering, shared his<br />
own recent innovation, “liver-on-achip,”<br />
a technology that is revolutionizing<br />
medical diagnostics. Wine tastings<br />
with HU agricultural experts and a tour<br />
of the City of David with HU archaeologists<br />
rounded out the mission.<br />

uring April 2017, a delegation<br />
from <strong>AFHU</strong>’s<br />
Mid-Atlantic Region, led by<br />
Steven and Heather Freidkin,<br />
traveled to Jerusalem<br />
on the “Israel Innovation,<br />
Technology, and the Market-<br />
place Mission.” The trip included<br />
interactive visits to startups, which<br />
introduced American Friends to Israel’s<br />
leaders in nanotechnology, cybersecurity,<br />
and biomedicine.<br />
