What´s the
best way
to record
such a big
forum? Of
course,with a
big screen.
China’s general aviation industry and particularly mentioned
“to promote new energy aircraft development”.
C. Electric airplanes, though are limited with duration time
and range, happen to suit China’s popular GA flight activities
very well. Most general aviation flights operations are
limited to local airports and within a small area in China so
that flight training and sightseeing become the most popular
flight activities. Thus flight duration, range and charging
facilities are not big problems for prospective Chinese
operators.
D. E-mobility at large has a good momentum in China.
China became the world’s largest market for electric automobiles
in 2015. Over half millions electric automobiles
were sold in China in 2016 of which 80% are pure electric
and 20% are hybrid. There are additional over 200 millions
electric scooters in China, with over 10 million new sales
each year. Electric aviation can take a ride with this e-mobility
momentum in China.
Actually both public and private sectors in China have
shown good appetite for electric aviation technologies.
China participants expect electric aviation to bring unprecedented
opportunities for China’s general aviation industry
because in e-aviation all players start more or less at
same level so there is the chance for the Chinese companies
to be in the lead from the beginning. In fact, electric
aviation is not a new concept in China. There have already
been several electric aircraft flying in China such as RX1E
(the first type-certified LSA) and e430 (the winner of the
Lindbergh Electric Aviation Prize.)
The world has witnessed what the Chinese government
could achieve if a goal is set in many areas such as high
speed trains, electric vehicles, urbanization and so on. As
the Chinese central government has set a very ambitious
goal for the general aviation industry by 2020 to have at
least 500 GA-dedicated airports, 5000 GA aircraft, an 130
billion euro sized market, electric aviation could well be
the missing key to stimulate a large portion of general aviation
development in China. The e-flight-forum Beijing set
a goal to introduce the vision and scope of electric aviation
to China and it has achieved this goal quite well.
Now let us lay back and see how the Chinese public and
private sectors will react to the electric aviation technology
and application. Hope to see you at e-flight-forum next
year in China!
