Sunderland puts its best paw forward

Every dog will be having his day in Sunderland
this autumn – as the region’s largest ever
public art trail heads for the city.
The Great North Snowdogs will see uniquely
decorated 1.5m sculptures, inspired by the
Raymond Briggs story The Snowman and The
Snowdog, scattered everywhere from favourite
tourist spots to lesser known corners of the
region.
Each one of the dogs will be transformed by an
artist (along with a few celebrity contributions)
and Sunderland will be welcoming their very
own pack of Snowdogs, along with 95 little
dogs painted by the region’s school children.
The project has been organised by – and will
raise funds for - St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice
and creative partners, Wild In Art.
And Sunderland businesses have got firmly
behind this amazing event.
Sunderland BID, the Bridges, SAFC, The
National Glass Centre, Gentoo, Primary Times,
Healthy High Streets, Stagecoach and
children’s heart charity CHUF are all
sponsoring dogs which will appear in key
locations.
They include Park Lane, the Bridges, the
National Glass Centre, SAFC, Market Square,
Keel Square, Sunniside Gardens, Blandford
Street and at the Minster along with some
further afield.
The exact locations are still be confirmed as
VIBE went to print but one thing is certain -
you’d be barking mad to miss the opportunity
to visit these amazing pieces of art.

every dog visited and also get a range of
special offers and treats.
Make no bones about it, this is a huge event for
