Made in
Sunderland
We’ve had loads of amazing
entries for the Made In
Sunderland Design Competition,
and as there’s still a few days left
to enter we thought we’d share
some of our favourites with you.
We’ve had paintings, drawings,
stories, songs, poems and
pictures and many other things
besides.
So get those creative juices
flowing and you could be in with
a chance of winning one of our
£250 cash prizes. It’s this kind of
amazing artistic talent which is
bound to make Sunderland a
great UK City of Culture in 2021.
The closing date for the
competition is September 5, and
entries can be sent to
competition@macsunderland.
One of the poems so far submitted …
North Star
And ships were born,
with shooting stars from the welder's gun.
Then light faded into darkness,
across the playing fields of Roker.
Old men chewed the football cud
as soundwaves echoed across the city,
finding a new pitch.
Through the changing seasons of light,
this investment nirvana gleams in a citadel
of colour.
Now, these Northern Lights are all
Red and White.
And ships were born,
with shooting stars from the welder's gun.
