The Hospital For Sick Children opened its doors over 140 years ago and since that time, they’ve helped countless<br />
children and their families fight illness. From pioneering paediatric blood transfusions, to inventing pablum, to<br />
developing surgical techniques such as in-uterine cardiac surgery, all the way to groundbreaking research<br />
discoveries such as identifying the Cystic Fibrosis gene, it’s easy to see why the Hospital For Sick Children has<br />
become renowned world-wide as a premier health facility for children. We are so blessed to have this wonderful<br />
institution and its caring doctors, health care professionals and staff, right in our own backyard.<br />
I’ve had the opportunity to see the fantastic work done by SickKids first hand - both of my daughters have been<br />
patients of SickKids.<br />
At thirteen, my eldest daughter developed trigeminal neuralgia on the left side of her face as a result of<br />
having shingles. This excruciatingly painful condition caused her to have amplified pain syndrome. SickKids treated<br />
Sarah in their Pain Clinic regularly for over 2 years. They felt she was so inspirational in her pain management they<br />
asked her to beta-test a Pain App. Sarah’s involvement and information about the pain app was featured in PULSE,<br />
the Nurse’s Association magazine.<br />
And just last year, my youngest, now 15 years old, was admitted to SickKids because of chronic anemia<br />
and iron deficiency. When admitted, Melissa required two blood transfusions and a battery of tests. We knew we<br />
were in good hands.<br />
That’s why we support The Hospital For Sick Children.<br />
For every house we buy or sell in <strong>2018</strong>, we will ONCE AGAIN donate a portion of our<br />
income equalling $10,000 to the SickKids Foundation! We are deeply grateful on a<br />
