Participation and Dialogue<br />
Quite often, events, conferences and meetings can<br />
feel like a one-way street…endless presentations,<br />
content and being talked at…what they really need<br />
is dialogue. The next part of the Emotional element of<br />
the Purple Monster PIE Model looks at dialogue<br />
and participation.<br />
It goes without saying that a truly memorable meeting<br />
should be two-way, actively involving those present,<br />
and making the content as engaging as possible.<br />
Remember our key points:<br />
• Set up a participative atmosphere at the start<br />
of the day. Create a space where contributions<br />
are welcome, and encouraged.<br />
• Make content-based sessions as interactive as<br />
possible- and make sure they’re inclusive.<br />
• Set aside enough time for people to reflect<br />
upon, as well as discuss, what they have<br />
heard.<br />
• Emphasise the value of honest contribution.<br />
Take on board the feelings of the room,<br />
whether positive or not.<br />
