Worship Team
Amy Jennings, Director of Parish Life
At St. Peter’s our goal is to serve and glorify God by providing
opportunities for active participation in Worship and sharing
the love of Jesus Christ. In 2017, we had a Worship Team
consisting of 153 individuals who serve as Acolytes, Chalice
Bearers, Readers, Ushers, Greeters, Prayer Team, Sound and
Media. Our worship team members serve once a month based
on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of each month. When a 5th
Sunday occurs within a month, we again rotate with the 1st
week serving on the first 5th Sunday, the 2nd week team
serving on the second 5th Sunday, and so on.
Throughout 2017, our Worship Team volunteers glorified God
in over 170 worship services including 3 services each weekend
and additional services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday, Easter, Christmas and three Prayer Services
throughout the year.
Our Episcopal tradition is liturgy, or work of the people. We appreciate the deep and faithful commitment of our
teams to serve in Worship to our Lord. Our members, visitors and guests experience God’s glory through your
service and we are so thankful for your commitment to serve each week.
Greeters & Ushers, Gina Rossini Coordinator
Each week the altar flowers are arranged by St.
Peter’s member. The flower guild grew by four
member this year bringing the group from 10 to 14
members. Different teams are scheduled to arrange
the flowers each week. The rotation is
approximate-ly once every 6 weeks. Each team
consists 2 or 3 members--at least one experienced
member on each team. On special occasions, the
entire Guild meets for Sanctuary Prep for
Christmas, Palm Sunday, and Easter.
Members can dedicate altar flowers to a loved one
or to celebrate a milestone, as well as Poinsettias for
Christmas and Easter Lilies for Easter for a voluntary
donation. The dedication is placed in the weekly
bulletin.
In addition to the Ushers and Greeters being the face
of St. Peter's Church before and after worship, handling
the elements and offerings during our worship services
is a privilege and a great responsibility. I pray that our
service is pleasing to God!
A new Coordinator for the Ushers and Greeters started
in July 2017. After the Worship Commission Customary
was finished, meetings were held with the Volunteers
to ensure that we were all introduced to St. Peter’s
standard for Greeting and Ushering. These were interactive
meetings and many points of serving as both
Usher and Greeter were established and put in writing.
From these meetings we developed “Cheat-Sheets”
that are distributed to New Ushers and Greeters to help
them become accustomed to their new role.
Our Ushers and Greeters have stepped forward each
time we have requested volunteers for special events.
We helped at the Boo-Hoo Woo-Hoo, several funerals,
additional services during the holidays, and concerts.
The combination of fellowship and service at the same
time we worship has a profound and positive effect.
Every week we are on the “front lines” with a smile as
we meet Guests and Members. We help with anything
requested, from assisting with set-up/break-down of
hospitality tables, to escorting new families to locate
Kid’s Church, to recording visitor information for
follow-up. What a blessing God has given us to be able
to help our Church family with getting ready for worship!
