HORSE-PITAL<br />

• CLIENTS: PLEASE ENSURE you have the following items CLEARLY marked with your horse’s<br />

name in your horses’ box at their stable or paddock as we will not be able to properly<br />

treat minor wounds, tick infestations or mange without the following: Tick Grease, Iceman/<br />

deep ice/arnica ice, Wound aerosol (Purple spray), Wound ointment (dermavet/agrisulph),<br />

hoof and sole hardener, Stockholm tar, milking cream, shampoo treatment for mange (F10).<br />

• Horses who need to be treated for mange, ticks, minor wounds or hoof problems without<br />

the above items available in their horses’ box will be treated with <strong>CEC</strong> products and clients<br />

charged with R150 per treatment – please remember that the ONUS is on the owner<br />

of the horse to ensure we have the necessary items to look after your horses’ well-being.<br />

• We have received news that the Equine Clinic at Onderstepoort has re-opened their<br />

doors from 5 February <strong>2018</strong>. For more IMPORTANT information, please click HERE.<br />

• Clients, please ensured your horses are insured for a critical care cover of<br />

at least R80 000 by either Equipage, Kuda or Onesure. Above Article has<br />

some cost estimates should your horse require medical attention in-hospital.<br />

• Medici had a bad case of sweet itch which was resolved with<br />

the advice of one of our awesome vets dr. Tanya Hornschuh.<br />

• The Equine Dentist was at our yard on 13 and 14 February and is generally very<br />

happy with the oral condition of our horses’ mouths. Some horses need to be seen<br />

again during August <strong>2018</strong> for their dental follow up and each horses’ teeth report is<br />

available inside the office at Charlene – Clients: please fetch your horses’ teeth report.<br />

• All horses and ponies will receive their Equine influenza vaccine inoculations on Saturday<br />

24 February <strong>2018</strong> after all the riding lessons are completed: The veterinarian is coming on<br />

this specific day so that the horses can have a day’s rest after receiving the vaccine as some<br />

horses might develop a slight fever reaction. The batch number for the vaccine is L449280.<br />

• PLEASE take note the next Equine influenza vaccination is due during August <strong>2018</strong>.<br />
