Count me out of Lagos gov race
— Sen Ashafa
By Olasunkanmi
L AGOS—FOLLOWING
a news item published
on an online news blog,
Senator Gbenga Ashafa,
representing Lagos East
Senatorial District has said
that he has no plan to
contest the governorship
slot with the incumbent
Governor Akinwunmi
Ambode of Lagos State.
According to Ashafa, in a
statement, yesterday, “My
attention has been drawn to
news item published on an
online news blog,
captioned “Again Talks
Gbenga Ashafa Interested
in becoming next Lagos
Gov floats about town”.
“I hereby use this
medium to reiterate my
support for the governor,
His Excellency, Governor
Akinwunmi Ambode and to
state that I am firmly
focused on my assignment
as the Senator representing
the people of Lagos East
Senatorial District in the
upper chamber of the
Legislature. I am equally
committed to supporting
the brilliant strides of the
incumbent Governor of
Lagos State and will
continue to support him
accordingly.
“It is pertinent to state at
this juncture that only last
week, on Friday 16th
February, 2018, I used a
medium through my
address at the closing
ceremony of the
Entrepreneurship Training
and Skill Acquisition
program for constituents of
Lagos East in conjunction
with SMEDAN to further
publicly drum up support
for the government of
Governor Ambode,
particularly in the aspect of
youth empowerment.”
He recalled that he
played a very vital role in
rallying the Lagos East
General Assembly of the All
Progressives Congress to
ensure that a vote of
confidence was passed on
government of Governor
Ambode during the recent
General Assembly, held in
Ikorodu on December 4th
2017, under the leadership
of Otunba Bushura
Alebiosu (BUSH).
At the General Assembly,
Ashafa was quoted to have
hailed the exemplary
leadership of the governor
and also that the present
developmental projects in
the state should be allowed
to continue, describing
Ambode as the most
effective governor in
Nigeria.
‘MAKEIGO
to ease
travelling
experience
in Nigeria'
By Gabriel
Olawale
L AGOS—DERIVE
Efficiency Limited in
partnership with corporate
transporters companies are
set to officially launch
MAKEIGO.com, an online
transportation booking &
payment platform.
Speaking ahead of the
formal launch in Lagos, the
Managing Director of
Derive Efficiency Ltd, Mr
Olumide Solarin said it is
time for travelers in Nigeria
to start experiencing and
preferring convenience to
the stress of physically
going through vehicular
traffic to bus parks, days
ahead to make payments.
“The world has moved forward
from that stressful and timewasting
task. What is more, is that
the world and indeed Nigeria is
going cashless, so why won’t we
have cashless be more popular
in bus travel booking & payment
in Nigeria? MAKEIGO.com has
simply come to the rescue for
travelers, and on its platform,
travel tickets are even cheaper
than the prices they get at the
bus parks”
Solarin disclosed that
passengers who book on
Makeigo.com enjoy discounts on
tickets compared to the transport
fares at the bus parks, “their
online payments are secured
because Makeigo.com is
supported by the various systems
offered by leading ICT firms and
banks in Nigeria."
