Shiny Objects originated from an idea to create a line of metallic prints inspired by shiny objects; those<br />
glossy, polished, gleaming things that never fail to entice you. In their third line in the Shiny Objects series,<br />
designers flaurie & finch were inspired by New Year’s Eve celebrations, fireworks and the dazzling color<br />
combinations of blacks with golds and platinum silvers. Some of the designs are carryovers from previous<br />
ranges, re-colored in stunning blacks, and other designs are new originals, created with a variety of art<br />
techniques such as watercolor, digital print making and ink drawing. The brand new twist in this series is the<br />
addition of a sophisticated black metallic accent, which combines beautifully with gold and silver metallics. In<br />
screen printing, however, you are allowed only one type of metallic per print, so the designers replicated the<br />
other metallic accents with color, tricking the eye into seeing more than one metallic. This color technique is<br />
demonstrated in several of the prints including: Adornment, Sparklers and Diamonds. Can you find the true<br />
metallic? Precious Metals features two distinct color feelings; black/silver and mixed metals— a blend of gold,<br />
rose gold, platinum and black. The shimmering quality of the prints and sophistication in design make them<br />
perfect choices for bedroom ensembles, evening bags and evening dresses, especially Lustrous Lace and<br />
Dazzling Damask. What’s more, Precious Metals can work to support other collections. The subtle metallic<br />
accents in the prints create luminous effects in quilt projects when inside blocks, borders and backgrounds.<br />
