Counting Our Blessings
Holy Trinity, Southport celebrated Harvest Festival this year by
collecting money for Water Aid. Our church is large and lends
itself well to large arrangements. We were, therefore, able to
exercise our imaginations around the Water Aid theme.
The main arrangement at the High Altar was designed to contrast
life in First and Third World countries.
The ‘watery’ blues to the left of the arrangement represented the
abundance of water we enjoy.
By contrast, the right-hand arrangement made use of an orange
and red palette of materials, flowers and dried foliage to represent
the hot, seared earth we associate with many countries and, in
particular, those on the African continent. There were no lifesaving
water bottles here!
