Let’s talk Croc Eggs this Easter!
Whilst we don’t have any hatching eggs this Easter (our croc eggs
tend to hatch in summer!) croc eggs are so cool that we like to
talk about them all year round! For example did you know that;
• Croc eggs take around 70 days to hatch.
• All alligators and caimans, and about half the crocodile species
lay their eggs above ground in ‘mound nests’ made from leaves,
grasses etc.
• The other half of the crocodile species dig ‘hole nests’ in sandy
river banks.
• Baby crocodilians are called ‘hatchlings.’
Come learn more facts, see our nesting displays and discover how
much last year’s hatchlings have grown!
