Monroe County Garden Club Monthly Meeting<br />

The Monroe County Garden Club will meet on Wednesday April 11th,<br />

at 11:30am at the Kettle Creek Environmental Center, 8050 Running<br />

Valley Road, Stroudsburg 18360. The Program will be Preparation,<br />

feeding and care <strong>for</strong> migrating birds' return, presented by Daryl Speicher,<br />

Environmentalist at Kettle Creek Environmental Center.. The Design Theme:<br />

Spring is here". Designers's choice of theme utilizing only fresh materials.<br />

Horticulture Theme: One flowering stem from a bulb.<br />

Meeting will begin at 11:30, followed by lunch, followed by program.<br />

Everyone interested in gardening is welcome to attend. Luncheon included.<br />

BMCL Lunch with an Author<br />

The Blue Mountain Community Library<br />

will hold an “Lunch with an Author” event<br />

on Thursday, April 26th, at Grace United<br />

Methodist Church, 404 E. Mountain Ave.,<br />

Pen Argyl, PA. The church is handicapped<br />

accessible with ample parking. (Enter from<br />

the lower parking lot). Local author, Kate Brandes, will discuss her<br />

first novel, “The Promise of Pierson Orchard,” a beautifully crafted<br />

story about two brothers from the rural community of Minden, PA,<br />

who loved the same girl. When life brings them back together after<br />

20 years, old wounds are re-opened and an intense division develops<br />

between them. Brandes, who lives in a small town along the Delaware<br />

River with her husband, David, and their two sons, is an environmental<br />

scientist, a watercolor painter and a writer of women’s fiction with<br />

an environmental bent. She will have a question and answer session<br />

about her book and a book signing. Copies will be available to<br />

purchase.<br />

Luncheon will begin at 12:00 pm (Doors open at 11:30 am). Tickets<br />

MUST be purchased in advance of the event. There will be no tickets<br />

available at the door. Tickets are limited and may be purchased at the<br />

library, located at 216 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl, PA through April 19,<br />

2018. Hours are M-Sa, 10:00 am to Noon, and M-Th, 6:00-8:00 pm.<br />

When winter with its grayish silver hue,<br />

Of nebulous skies that growled and ruled,<br />

Waved its scepter and chased the rain<br />

As it filled the upper limits and laid a claim.<br />

But Easter with its clean and sacred hands,<br />

Of prophetic skies and spiritual wonderlands,<br />

Fresh from its tribute to the glorious ascension,<br />

Said to move ahead with a peaceful intention.<br />

As we devoutly follow in its sacred footsteps<br />

Along its winding paths and flowing rivulets,<br />

We come to an inner peace as our spirits rise,<br />

Our selves renewed from the greater Easter skies.<br />

Experience The Sound of Soul at the<br />

Monroe County Public Library<br />

On Saturday, April 7th, from 10:00am-11:00am there will be an<br />

exciting event at the Monroe County Public Library.<br />

The event entitled EXPERIENCE THE SOUND OF SOUL - is being held<br />

so that individuals may learn a new way to Discover Inner guidance;<br />

healing <strong>for</strong> body, mind, and spirit; a higher <strong>for</strong>m of creativity.<br />

The Introduction of a sacred sound and ancient mantra called HU will<br />

be explained, and experienced through this interesting event.<br />
