Natural wisdom
Nutritional therapist Henrietta Norton, of Wild Nutrition
supplements, shares the practices and resources that support her in
her busy life as a mother and businesswoman
Henrietta Norton is the co-founder
of the trailblazing supplements
brand, Wild Nutrition, which uses
a special ‘Food-Grown’ process that
guarantees maximum beneft. Having
suffered with chronic and debilitating
endometriosis throughout her 20s,
she was told she would never have
children. Determined to overcome her
condition, she sought out a nutritional
therapist who specialised in female
health, before going on to train herself.
Now, as a mother of three, product
formulator and practising therapist, she
is dedicated to helping other women
turn their health around too.
What one piece of seasonal wisdom
helps you in April?
“Walking in nature. This helps me all
year round, in a different way each
season. In April, I find it immensely
uplifting and cleansing.”
Which area of self-care do you never
skimp on?
“The quality of my food. As a society
we have to take more responsibility
and be aware of the way our food is
produced and grown, on a nutritional,
environmental and spiritual level.
A great inspiration for this is Satish
Kumar’s book Soil, Soul and Society.
We are lucky to have great local meat,
veg and fruit suppliers. For cupboard
staples I use my local health food store
Charlotte’s Cupboard. This is a brilliant
packaging-free food delivery service. You
provide your own containers and pay by
weight.” charlottescupboard.com
What’s cooking in your kitchen this
month? “I am getting very creative with
vegetables. Spring greens, chard and
courgettes are being lightly fried with
fresh herbs (whatever is in the garden),
garlic, lots of lemon juice and zest,
generous portions of virgin olive oil,
cracked pepper and rock salt. This is
either a wonderful meal in itself or as
an accompaniment to pasta, rice or
fresh fish.”
Is there one book that taught you
something amazing about life – and
made you better at living it?
“Without doubt Limitless Sky by
David Charles Manners (who,
coincidentally, happens to be a
Wealden dweller) which describes the
true story of a young man who on
a chance meeting in Nepal, begins
an inspiring, enlightening personal
journey facilitated by a Nepalese
Shaman in the Himalayas.”
What always makes you smile?
“My children. They bring a lot of
other faces too....but without fail,
many smiles each and every day.”
Give your skin a treat
Are you starting to think about that spring clean yet? Not just the
house, it’s also the perfect time to spring clean our skin with a face
mask. Taking an extra 10 minutes, even once a week, can give skin
time to renew and regenerate, revealing your spring glow.
To achieve this, we tried Freyaluna’s Bright & Beautiful
Brightening Face Mask, full of natural ingredients designed to
reduce inflammation, hydrate and improve circulation to the skin
surface. The active combination of rosehip, coffee and turmeric
feed the skin with vitamin C, stimulate and heal. The powder
formation is great as you can tailor this mask to suit your skin
type, mixing with aloe vera gel for spot-prone skin, or a few drops
of a facial oil for an extra moisture boost.
Relax with the mask on for 10 minutes and remove in
circular motions with warm water and a muslin cloth,
to add gentle exfoliation.
Freyaluna Bright & Beautiful Brightening Face
Mask costs £8 for 10g packet or £25 for a 40g jar.
Eminé says:
Try this in April
Practising yoga has become the
healthy, spiritual foundation of
my week. When I can’t get to my
regular classes at the brilliant
Kingdom Yoga in Penshurst,
I turn to my online teachers,
at Movement for Modern
Life. Via their videos, I
practise yin yoga, yoga
nidra and hatha
yoga, dependent
on my needs of the
day all in the comfort
of my bedroom while my children sleep.
