Slim River, 3 Mac - The Ambassador<br />

to the Universiti Fokus Luar Bandar in<br />

collaboration with the Department of<br />

Agriculture, Batang Padang and the<br />

University Community Transformasi<br />

Centre (UCTC) held the Nutripot System<br />

Practices (NSP) For Families programme.<br />

The programme, which took place at<br />

the Mini Rural Transformation Centre<br />

(MRTC) Seri Gala, Slim River, sees the<br />

attendance of 15 local entrepreneurs,<br />

all of which were exposed to one of the<br />

many methods of urban agriculture, the<br />

nutri-pot gardening system.<br />

Mohamed stated that the initiative was<br />

taken to further strengthen the (urban<br />

agriculture) field while simultaneously<br />

helping the participants to further elevate<br />

their socio-economic standing as well as<br />

reducing spending for household items.<br />

“Programmes such as these also<br />

provided a job market for either the<br />

participants or the general public,<br />

thus inadvertently applying them with<br />

entrepreneurial knowledge [that the<br />

participants could practice],”<br />

“The participation <strong>UPSI</strong> students in<br />

the field of Agricultural Science proves<br />

to be particularly helpful for both the<br />

participants and the programme as it is<br />

imperative that they would understand<br />

the notion before they [the urban<br />

agriculture plan] could be applied by the<br />

general public” she further added.<br />

During the programme, the<br />

IAD Organized International<br />

Staff Lunch<br />

<strong>UPSI</strong>, 14 March - The International Affairs Division (IAD) organized the International<br />

Staff Lunch along with lecturers from various countries to share their ideas and<br />

opinions toward making <strong>UPSI</strong> the world’s Premier Education University.<br />

Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran stated that he was<br />

very satisfied with the session and he was truly happy with their (IAD staffs) support and<br />

commitment to ensure <strong>UPSI</strong> will continue Soaring Upwards to be the No.1 Education<br />

University in Malaysia. He also hoped<br />

that he ought to see an amazing sense of<br />

camaraderie that was on display during<br />

the function for when <strong>UPSI</strong> becomes the<br />

top education university in this region<br />

and when the University is awarded with<br />

global recognition by 2020.<br />

The function was also attended by the<br />

Top Management Executive Committee<br />

Members which consists of; Deputy Vice<br />

Chancellor (Academic and International),<br />

Professor Dr. Mohammad Sahandri Gani<br />

Hamzah, the Deputy Vice Chancellor<br />

(Research and Innovation), Professor<br />

Dato’ Dr. Noraini Idris, and Registrar, Dr.<br />

Hajah Zainab Othman.<br />
