Invigorate
Urban
Agriculture
Interest
Slim River, 3 Mac - The Ambassador
to the Universiti Fokus Luar Bandar in
collaboration with the Department of
Agriculture, Batang Padang and the
University Community Transformasi
Centre (UCTC) held the Nutripot System
Practices (NSP) For Families programme.
The programme, which took place at
the Mini Rural Transformation Centre
(MRTC) Seri Gala, Slim River, sees the
attendance of 15 local entrepreneurs,
all of which were exposed to one of the
many methods of urban agriculture, the
nutri-pot gardening system.
Programme Director, Syafiqah
Mohamed stated that the initiative was
taken to further strengthen the (urban
agriculture) field while simultaneously
helping the participants to further elevate
their socio-economic standing as well as
reducing spending for household items.
“Programmes such as these also
provided a job market for either the
participants or the general public,
thus inadvertently applying them with
entrepreneurial knowledge [that the
participants could practice],”
“The participation UPSI students in
the field of Agricultural Science proves
to be particularly helpful for both the
participants and the programme as it is
imperative that they would understand
the notion before they [the urban
agriculture plan] could be applied by the
general public” she further added.
During the programme, the
IAD Organized International
Staff Lunch
UPSI, 14 March - The International Affairs Division (IAD) organized the International
Staff Lunch along with lecturers from various countries to share their ideas and
opinions toward making UPSI the world’s Premier Education University.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran stated that he was
very satisfied with the session and he was truly happy with their (IAD staffs) support and
commitment to ensure UPSI will continue Soaring Upwards to be the No.1 Education
University in Malaysia. He also hoped
that he ought to see an amazing sense of
camaraderie that was on display during
the function for when UPSI becomes the
top education university in this region
and when the University is awarded with
global recognition by 2020.
The function was also attended by the
Top Management Executive Committee
Members which consists of; Deputy Vice
Chancellor (Academic and International),
Professor Dr. Mohammad Sahandri Gani
Hamzah, the Deputy Vice Chancellor
(Research and Innovation), Professor
Dato’ Dr. Noraini Idris, and Registrar, Dr.
Hajah Zainab Othman.
