Mother Nature in her childish manner,
In her mischievous, frisky demeanor,
Millions of miles away from the sun,
Plays with the clouds, a day filled with fun.
She hides the sun and deceives the eyes.
Springtime is a myth so full of lies.
She sends the snow down for its last hurrah,
In rebellion to what all the prophets foresaw.
April arrives at the same time each year,
A harbinger proclaiming summer’s near.
But nature’s child has a different plan,
To blow it away with her big arctic fan.
BMCL Lunch with an Author
The Blue Mountain Community Library will
hold an “Lunch with an Author” event on
Thursday, April 26th, at Grace United Methodist
Church, 404 E. Mountain Ave., Pen Argyl, PA.
The church is handicapped accessible with
ample parking. (Enter from the lower parking
lot). Local author, Kate Brandes, will discuss her
first novel, “The Promise of Pierson Orchard,”
a beautifully crafted story about two brothers from the rural community of
Minden, PA, who loved the same girl. When life brings them back together
after 20 years, old wounds are re-opened and an intense division develops
between them. Brandes, who lives in a small town along the Delaware
River with her husband, David, and their two sons, is an environmental
scientist, a watercolor painter and a writer of women’s fiction with an
environmental bent. She will have a question and answer session about
her book and a book signing. Copies will be available to purchase.
Luncheon will begin at 12:00 pm (Doors open at 11:30 am). Tickets
MUST be purchased in advance of the event. There will be no tickets
available at the door. Tickets are limited and may be purchased at the
library, located at 216 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl, PA through April 19,
2018. Hours are M-Sa, 10:00 am to Noon, and M-Th, 6:00-8:00 pm. Call
