Presidents Message

April 2018
An old saying I remember
when I was
growing up was April
showers bring May
flowers. The month
of April 2018 is upon
us and I hope April
showers each of you
with good health and
prosperity.
During the month of March many people were
starting spring cleaning, preparing NCAA men
and women college basketball brackets. If
your brackets were like mine it was busted in
the first round. But that’s life, can’t win them
all, right!
Congratulations to all of the Outstanding
Salesmanship Club (OSC) Award winners.
The awards were presented at the Marriott
Hotel, City Center, Newport News, Va. It was
indeed an evening filled with Glitz and Glamor.
Thanks to all sponsors who helped to make
the award banquet a very special and memorable
event for everyone. A special thanks to
the VPAR Banquet Committee for planning
and implementing an outstanding and fun
filled evening.
The Professional Development Committee
organized and coordinated an excellent Lunch
and Learn on Cyber Security by Shaheen Law.
The Lunch and Learn was interesting and
informative. I would encourage VPAR members
to review the training calendar and plan
to attend topics of personal and professional
interest.
During March our Virginia Realtors provided
required Ethics training for our VPAR Board of
Directors and other members and leaders.
The VPAR RPAC Committee’s Shooting Hoops
for RPAC held at Traditions on March 22,
2018 was a fun filled evening as we supported
RPAC, networked, dined, toured the brewery
and enjoyed refreshments. A special thanks
to the VPAR RPAC Committee for organizing a
great event.
April is Fair Housing Month and VPAR is
partnering with NAREB to commemorate
the 50th Anniversary of the passing of the
1968 Fair Housing Act. The Virginia Peninsula
Association of Realtors April 17th, 2018
General Membership Meeting will focus on the
significance of this historical event. We have
an informative agenda planned for our membership.
The Chief Deputy Attorney General
Cynthia Hudson of the State of Virginia will be
our speaker for the meeting. Please come out
and support your association as we reflect on
our historical past while looking forward to
an even brighter future.
Invitations have been extended to our Legislative
representatives, area Realtors Associations
and other guests have been invited to
attend our membership meeting. We will
provide some brief legislative and association
updates during our meeting.
On April 6th, 2018 from 9:00am – 4:00pm
the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act
course will be conducted at VPAR in Training
Rooms A&B. See you there!
