MISSION STATEMENT<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Salvation</strong> <strong>Army</strong>, an international movement, is an evangelical<br />

part of <strong>the</strong> universal Christian Church. Its message is based on <strong>the</strong><br />

Bible. Its ministry is motivated by <strong>the</strong> love of God. Its mission is to<br />

preach <strong>the</strong> gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His<br />

name without discrimination.<br />

VISION STATEMENT<br />

For this reason, we are “Doing <strong>the</strong> Most Good” in <strong>the</strong> Tulsa <strong>Area</strong><br />

by being a strategic and collaborative partner committed to<br />

providing compassionate community service, and by being a<br />

positive change agent in <strong>the</strong> lives of <strong>the</strong> youth and adults<br />

If we had to describe it in<br />

one word…...<br />

<strong>The</strong> story goes that it was late in <strong>the</strong> Christmas season and <strong>The</strong><br />

<strong>Salvation</strong> <strong>Army</strong>’s William Booth was running out of time to<br />

distribute a holiday greeting that would inspire and refresh his<br />

troops stationed literally around <strong>the</strong> world.<br />

Time was short. Resources were thin. Telegraph messages were<br />

charged by <strong>the</strong> letter. But Booth was brilliant. <strong>The</strong> Founder and<br />

first General of <strong>The</strong> <strong>Salvation</strong> <strong>Army</strong> telegraphed a single word to<br />

officers scattered far and wide:<br />
