#1 REDOUBT FORTRESS
& PAVILION EXHIBITION
A must for heritage tours and history lovers!
Explore the mysterious Redoubt Fortress.
With daily tours and regular re-enactments,
immerse yourself in the lives of the historical
figures who once made up the fabric of this
Napoleonic fortress. The vintage café is the
perfect spot to refuel before visiting the free
exhibition located at The Pavilion a few steps
further along the seafront, to uncover the
stories of life along the Seven Sisters over
the past 8,000 years.
#2 TOWNER GALLERY
Culture vultures must include Towner on
their itineraries! Our award-winning gallery
is home to some 4,500 works including
the largest body of work from artist Eric
Ravilious. Book a tour or take a look behind
the scenes. With some exciting exhibitions
in 2017 including Ravilious & Co: The Pattern
of Friendship English Artist Designers 1922 –
1942 from 27 May – 17 September 2017, it is
a must visit!
#3 EAST OF THE PIER HERITAGE TRAIL
Discover old Eastbourne’s hidden history in
our free Heritage Trail. With pop-up history
corners, the trail will take your group on a
journey of discovery at special interest sites
to the East of the Pier including the Royal
Hippodrome Theatre, where an extra trap
door had to be installed in the 1920’s to
accommodate Harry Houdini’s performance!
#4 EASTBOURNE BANDSTAND
With a huge range of concerts and an
extended season in 2017, our 1930’s
Bandstand is an iconic live music location
perfect for groups. From traditional Silver
Band afternoon concerts, the much loved
1812 firework concerts to toe-tapping
tributes and themed music evenings, there

train from Holywell beach to Sovereign
