Accord<strong>in</strong>g to Jude, Enoch son of Jared, before <strong>the</strong> flood, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> 7th generation follow<strong>in</strong>g Adam, stood<br />

firm aga<strong>in</strong>st an explosion of wickedness among men that led to angelic <strong>in</strong>tervention (Jude 14-15)<br />

• S<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> sort of wickedness to which Jude refers required angelic <strong>in</strong>tervention, it may well have<br />

concerned <strong>the</strong> Nephilim<br />

NAMES OF GIANTS MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE<br />

1. RAPHA<br />

• Early ancestor of all <strong>the</strong> giant clans <strong>in</strong> what became <strong>the</strong> region of Palest<strong>in</strong>e, which <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>the</strong><br />

Anakites, Emites, and Horites (Deut 2:10-12; 2 Sam 21:16,18,20,22; 1 Chron 20:4,6,8)<br />

2. ANAK<br />

• Fa<strong>the</strong>r of a clan of giants liv<strong>in</strong>g sou<strong>the</strong>rn Cannaan (Num 13:28)<br />

3. ARBA<br />

• Forefa<strong>the</strong>r of Anak and <strong>the</strong> Anakim (Josh 15:13; 21:11)<br />

• Honored as “<strong>the</strong> greatest man among <strong>the</strong> Anakites” (Josh 14:15)<br />

• The Anakite name for Hebron was Kiriath-Arba mean<strong>in</strong>g “City of Arba”(Josh 15:13)<br />

4. SEPHER<br />

• Because Debir was an Anakite city like Hebron (Josh 11:21), and because <strong>the</strong> former Anakite name<br />

for Debir was Kiriath-Sepher mean<strong>in</strong>g “City of Sepher,” it must be that Sepher was <strong>the</strong> name of<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r Anakite patriarch like Arba (Josh 15:15)<br />

5. OG<br />

• The k<strong>in</strong>g of Bashan identified as <strong>the</strong> last of “<strong>the</strong> Rephaites” (Deut 3:11)<br />

• S<strong>in</strong>ce o<strong>the</strong>r giants after Og are also Rephaites, <strong>the</strong> reference most likely means that Og was <strong>the</strong> last<br />

pure blooded (100%) giant sired by an angel mix<strong>in</strong>g with a human woman (see explanation of <strong>the</strong><br />
