The “majestic” American elm tree is located near the Metra train station at 724 Green Bay Road in Glencoe. It was directed to come down by Glencoe’s forestry division after it was monitored and showed signs of a potential hazard to commuters, said Megan Hoffman, assistant to the village manager. “In a few weeks, it will come down, but there is no official date set yet,” Hoffman said. The tree removal will involve several pieces of equipment on site with an aerial truck parked in the lawn area near the tree, and it will most likely take about two days, Hoffman told The Anchor. Metra will be notified, and there will be pedestrian traffic control provided on the platform near the tree. Reporting by Megan Bernard, Contributing Editor. Full story at GlencoeAnchor.com.
