Maghfouri MOGHDDAM Department of Geology, faculty of Sciences, Lorestan university , Fakol aflak, khorram abad, Iran E-mail: iraj mmms @ yahoo.co.uk phone:++ 98661 2200272 Fax:++ 98661220285 The Tarbur Formation is a predominantly carbonate lithostratigraphic unit that crops out in the Zagros Basin, between the main Zagros reverse fault and the High Zagros and east of Sabzpushan Fault. This formation was studied from biostratigraphic point of view at four measured sections (Robut, Chumsangar, Balghar and Sarvestan). Microbiostratigraphical data mainly based on foraminifera which indicate Early- Middle Maastrichtian age for deposits of the Tarbur Formation at Sarvestan and Middle Maastrichtian for Balgar, Robat and Chamsangar sections.
