Fishing Derby: Fiesta<br />

May 5, 8 to 10am<br />

Cast your line for a great time at the Parkland<br />

Fishing Derby at the Pine Trails Park fishing<br />

pier, 10555 Trails End. The event is open<br />

to children ages 3 to 12. Anglers can win<br />

awards for the biggest fish, smallest fish,<br />

and most fish caught. The derby is free.<br />

#ParklandStrong, A Benefit for<br />

the Victims of the MSD Shooting<br />

May 16, 6pm<br />

AEG Presents, in partnership with Entercom<br />

Radio Group and the City of Pompano<br />

Beach, will host “#Parkland Strong, A<br />

Benefit for the Victims of the Marjory<br />

Stoneman Douglas School Shooting” at<br />

the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, 1801<br />

NE 6th Street, Pompano Beach. All of the<br />

proceeds including ticket sales, concessions,<br />

merchandise, and sponsorships will be<br />

donated to the official Broward Education<br />

Foundation Stoneman Douglas Fund. The<br />

concert will feature New Found Glory, Chris<br />

Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional,<br />

and Ryan Key, formerly of Yellowcard.<br />

Tickets are $25 and $100 for VIP (first three<br />

rows). Tickets are on sale now and can be<br />

purchased at pbamp.com and axs.com.<br />

Relay For Life of Parkland and Coral Springs<br />

We continue to grieve the loss of the victims of the Marjory<br />

Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, and are standing<br />

strong with the survivors and with the entire Parkland and<br />

Coral Springs community. Our school administration, city<br />

officials, event leadership team, and student team captains<br />

are in support of proceeding with Relay For Life on <strong>April</strong> 13,<br />

6pm to midnight, at Stoneman Douglas High School, 5901<br />

Pine Island Road.<br />

The core focus of Relay For Life continues – we join together<br />

to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer,<br />

remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving<br />

change. The theme has been changed to “Survivors Standing<br />

Strong” and will incorporate some appropriate elements<br />

to honor MSD survivors, first responders, and those lost in<br />

City Manager Mike Goodrum has announced<br />

that he has selected Clyde<br />

Parry to serve as the next<br />

Chief of Police for the City of<br />

Coral Springs. Parry replaces<br />

outgoing Police Chief Anthony<br />

Pustizzi who announced his<br />

retirement in January <strong>2018</strong>.<br />

Parry has served 31 years with<br />

the City of Coral Springs Police<br />

Department, working his way<br />

up the ranks from Patrol Officer<br />

to Deputy Chief.<br />

Ramblewood Thespians winners at state festival<br />

The Ramblewood Middle School Junior Thespians participated in the<br />

<strong>2018</strong> State Festival. The Ramblewood Middle School performed It’s the<br />

Hard Knock Life as part of an opening ceremony featuring 12 of the best<br />

performances in the State of Florida. The troupe brought home numerous<br />

medals, trophies, and awards including First Place Critic’s Choice for the<br />

second year in a row.<br />
