2018 – 2019 school year.
This is an important meeting and the last
general meeting of the year.
The new date for Multicultural & Fine
Arts Night is April 19. The event will be
done in conjunction with Heron Heights
Elementary and will feature cultures
around the world and a celebration
of life honoring our sister high school,
Stoneman Douglas. The theme is One
Earth, One People & One Love. Be sure
to join us for this amazing event.
Remember that the Superhero 5K race
will be held on May 6 at 7:30am at Pine
Trails Park in Parkland. This is a great
opportunity to spend some fun time
exercising as a family. To register, visit

This is the home stretch Wolf Nation,
as always give it your all. Good luck to
everyone on his or her tests.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
How FGMS has helped after MSD

In the wake of the devastating
tragedy that occurred at Marjory
Stoneman
Douglas High,
an outpour of
love and support
has been seen and
encouraged at Forest
Glen Middle School.
Clubs such as the
Student Government
Association,
Believers United,
Peer Counseling,
and the Gardening Club have worked
to raise funds, awareness, and aid
the community after this disaster. The
Student Government Association,
as well as Believers United, is selling
different styles of shirts where all profits
go to MSD and the families affected.
The Gardening Club has planted
17 marigolds in the orange variety
to commemorate the victims. Peer
counseling has worked with the SGA to
make coffee sleeves that have slogans
and MSD school colors on them, as well
as creating pinwheels and letters.
Not only have clubs partaken in helping
victims and survivors, hundreds of
students signed banners for MSD
and wrote encouraging messages.
Many also wrote inspiring letters to
the survivors returning to the school,
prior to knowing about the banners.
An eighth grade high-achieving class
has also written letters to Congress.
FGMS has plans to paint a mural near
the basketball court. Pinwheels have
been designed by students so when
it’s windy, Marjory Stoneman Douglas
students think of hope. Students gather
to memorialize those lost in the tragedy,
as well as multiple moments of silence.
FGMS is working to provide help to the
students of MSD, whether it’s through
letters, pinwheels, donations,
or awareness. From the
SGA to the Gardening Club,
students and faculty have
worked to help many others.
Through this horrid calamity,
we’ve come together to help
others. Helping others and
healing has been the goal
of many at FGMS and will
continue to be an important
objective. From moments of
silence to donating proceeds to those
that need it, people have come together
to help the community.

community’s inspirational students,
for standing strong together to bring
awareness and change.
