Alderman Tack ends
term after 6 years, new
alderman sworn in
The Lake Forest City
Council said goodbye to
Alderman Randy Tack and
hello to a new alderman at
its Monday, May 7 meeting.
Three aldermen who
were re-elected in the
March 20 municipal election
were sworn into their
positions at the meeting:
Prue Beidler (First Ward),
Tim Newman (Second
Ward) and Michelle Moreno
(Fourth Ward).
New Alderman Jim Preschlack
(Third Ward) was
also sworn into his position
at the meeting after
being elected in the March
20 municipal election.
Preshlack replaced Tack
on the council.
Tack served six years on
the council, as long as he
was allowed to serve due
to a limit of three two-year
terms. Tack credited the
city staff for helping him
learn the ins and outs of
city government.
“Over the past six
years, it’s been an amazing
thing to do,” Tack
said. “I learned so much
about how the city works.
The city is unbelievably
well run. These people are
great at what they do. They
love what they do. Things
I knew nothing about, I
could sit with them for 15
minutes and I’d know everything
about it.”
During his time as third
ward alderman from May
2012 to May 2018, Tack
served as a member of the
City Council and Finance
Committee and chairman
of the Public Works
Committee; served on the
Property and Public Lands
Committee; and was liaison
to the Parks and Recreation
Department and
Committee Representing
Our Young Adults.

Wilmette police officers,
resident lauded for heroic
efforts
A group of Wilmette
police officers and a resident
were recognized for
their accomplishments at
the Tuesday, May 8 meeting
of the Wilmette Village
Board.
Life Saving awards were
presented to resident David
Zier and officers Stephen
Leigh, Valerie Davis
and Julie Parisi for a Sept.
27, 2017 incident in the
300 block of Ridge Road
when a bicyclist collapsed
in the roadway. Detective
Connor Cavanagh was
presented with the Officer
of the Year Award. This
award was voted upon by
the officer’s peers.
“Internally, Connor has
become a source of knowledge
for his co-workers on
more complex investigations,”
Police Chief Kyle
Murphy said.
Murphy explained that
the Officer of the Year
Award is presented to the
Wilmette police officer
who has made the most
significant contribution
to the police department
throughout that year and
who through his dedication,
loyalty and the consistently
high quality of
work sets himself apart as
a police officer to be emulated.
