Cancer Care and Help Evening Don’t be Afraid of Cancer, Swaffham Assembly Rooms 7.15pm Wednesday 13th June There is becoming an ever increasing network of help, support and information available in West Norfolk, not only those who are suffering from cancer, but also family and friends who are caring for them. This evening meeting is aimed to give people a view of what is available. Most of us are touched by cancer to some degree or other – it causes deep concern and worry, not only by those who are suffering cancer but also family members and friends. The treatment can stretch over several weeks in some cases with, as treatment becomes effective, longer gaps between sessions or reviews. We have invited speakers who can offer ‘hands on’ help and, looking forward, how it will become easier to source advice on any concerns or worries patients may, and do, have. Swaffham & Litcham Home Hospice whose services include ‘home Companionship’ for patients, carers support, help with transport, group activities, equipment loan, bereavement group and support and complementary therapies. Mandy Stratton, who is involved at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the Cancer Transformation Project, will give a summary of the transformation work being undertaken for cancer care on a national and local level and how the Macmillan Cancer Transformation program fits within it. Also talk about co-production and how it can enhance the role that individuals and communities play in improving a patient’s experience of cancer. Also represented will be The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, who give care and support for those with life shortening illness and their loved ones. They also give bereavement support to families after the loss of a loved one. This then is a big opportunity to come and gain understanding of cancer care and support. It will also underline the amount of work being done to get on top of this thing called cancer. This is a chance not to be missed, so, please do come along with any questions you may have, and discover what help there is for your situation. This event is being arranged by the Campingland PPG who will provide refreshments during the evening. Any queries please contact The Campingland Surgery. 1
