Laempe & Mössner are world market leaders in the
production of core shop technologies. The focus
lies also on the networking and intelligent control
throughout the core shop.
Andreas Mössner is a hands-on businessman. Everything
seems to say it. His neat suit, his confident handshake, his
clearly arranged office. An app tells him how much extra
time he's gained since stopping smoking and cutting out
cigarette breaks. Time to live? More like time to work! As
the Managing Director of Laempe & Mössner GmbH, the
35-year-old’s schedule is pretty much full: his company sells
its products on five continents – and is expanding.
THE MECHANICAL AND PLANT
ENGINEERING COMPANY IS THE
WORLD MARKET LEADER in the
production of core shop technology
for foundries. In this respect,
the company has become a popular
partner to the automotive industry,
to rail carriage construction,
and to manufacturers of ship
engines, pumps and fittings. “For
our customers, we construct
machinery that makes cores,”
explains Mössner. These cores,
which consist of a hardened sand
mixture, function as place-holders
for the subsequent cavities in the
casting moulds. “The cores disappear
after the casting, leaving
sophisticated internal geometries
behind.” Cylinder heads, engine
and hydraulic units are just some
examples of the cast parts of this
kind.

also includes – addition to the
core shooting – gassing units
which support the hardening of
the cores. The offering is rounded
off with sand mixers, sand preparation
systems and robot-supported
after-treatment solutions
for cores, for the de-bur ring of
the cores, for example. “And we
also oversee the networking
and intelligent management of
the entire core shop,” explains
Mössner. The company stands for
complete solutions: its employees
not only make and deliver the
machines, they also install them
at the customer’s premises, service
them and manufacture spare
parts. “Our strength is our support,
which is valued highly all over the
world,” says Mössner decisively.
Mössner views internationalisation
to be the key success factor. The
company has employees in offices
all over the world as well as a network
of 25 sales and service partners.
Mössner explains that he favours
local partners, particularly in places
where the local culture differs
markedly from the European
approach. “Take the plain speaking
that everyone here in Germany
likes. People in Asia can find that
really off-putting.” Mössner, who
studied industrial engineering,
previously lived in China for a
while with his wife, where he
developed a sales office. “Our
entire team there is Chinese. We
are now working on enabling our
colleagues there to carry out all of
their tech nical, support and sales
tasks more
independently than before.”
THE HIGH “MADE IN SAXONY-
ANHALT” QUALITY is also popular
in the USA, where the durability
of the machinery as well as their
efficiency, precision and reliability
are all valued. The good customer
references says Mössner, not
without a little pride, have helped
the company to develop its sales
activities in additional markets in
Asia and South America.
Even though Mössner will always
feel loyal to his home town of
Munich, he strongly recommends
Saxony-Anhalt to every entrepreneur:

are now carrying out research
with engineers from Laempe
& Mössner into an approach for
the virtual simulation of mixing
processes.

DIPL.-ING. Hans-Joachim Laempe
founded his company in the Black
Forest in the year 1980. In 1995,
he built a 15,000 qm factory
workshop which is home to the
construction of core machines for
foundries. It is also the home of
the administrative offices.

TURNOVER is 65 million Euros,
and the business has 300 employees.
