are illiterate and would,
therefore, acquire knowledge
of the tax issues when the
literature in published.
Addressing the translators,
Manager Public and Corporate
Affair, Ian Rumanyika
emphasized the importance of
maintaining the structure and
style of the original texts of the
tax materials while keeping the
meaning of ideas and facts of
the original tax law accurate.
“Whereas languages may
be translated into, there must
not be misrepresentation of
the legal terminology yet at
the same time the messages
must be simple. You must
pay strict attention to cultural
references including slang and
other expressions that may not
translate literally,” he said.
Other matters discussed
included widening the
Translators Club to include
other stakeholders like SMEs to
quality assure and interaction
with users after the first batch
of work is done (feedback)
plus adherence to timelines
and resource tools (reference
books/library).
The commissioned translators
