Welcome to 22nd Century Media’s All-Area team: Team 22. Thanks to help from area coaches and the
eyes of 22nd Century Media staff, the best players were selected from six high schools — New Trier (NT),
Loyola Academy (LA), Glenbrook North (GBN), Glenbrook South (GBS), Highland Park (HP) and Lake Forest
High School (LF) — in our coverage area.

OUTSIDE HITTERS
Joe Chamberlain, LF senior
• 251 kills, .313 hitting percentage,
28 aces, 42 blocks, 98 digs; as
an NSC All-Conference player,
Chamberlain helped lead his team
to a regional championship and was
second to Lamp in kills on the team.
OUTSIDE HITTER
Kevin Lamp, LF junior
• 402 kills, .399 hitting
percentage, 61 aces, 47
blocks, 104 digs; Lamp, an
all-around talent and NSC
All-Conference player, earned
himself a spot on Team 22 for
the third consecutive season.
OUTSIDE HITTER
Drake Johnson, LA senior
• 268 kills, .292 hitting
percentage, 20 aces, 57
blocks; Johnson, a three-year
varsity player for the Ramblers,
was a dominate force in the
Catholic League, and an All-
Conference player.
MIDDLE HITTER/BLOCKER
James Snyder, NT senior
• 133 kills, 71 blocks; the
captain led the Trevians in
blocks and earned a CSL All-
Conference nod. Snyder was a
key part of the team’s offense,
helping New Trier wins its fifth
consecutive sectional title.
MIDDLE HITTER/BLOCKER
Kyle Waggoner, LF senior
• 103 kills, 68 blocks, 32
digs, 20 aces, .283 hitting
percentage; the co-captain
earned the NSC Sportsmanship
of the Year Award and helped
the Scouts secure a regional
title against Warren.
Jack Ferber, GBN senior
• 178 kills, 3.3 kills per set, 15
aces, 5.2 receptions per set; the
Spartan provided a stable offensive
presence GBN needed to make it to
the regional title game.
MIDDLE HITTERS/BLOCKERS
Zak Levy, HP senior
• 155 kills, 13 aces, 19 solo blocks,
36 assisted blocks, 95.3 serve
percentage; Levy earned a Team 22
nod for a second consecutive year.
He was also a CSL All-Conference
player and plans to make waves at
North Central College.
Joe D’Attomo, NT senior
• 122 kills, .50 hitting percentage;
a Loyola University-Chicago signee,
D’Attomo helped the Trevians in a
big way despite missing time with
an injury early in the season.
LIBERO
Matthew Zhang, GBN senior
• 253 digs, 4.8 digs per set,
95.8 serve percentage; a
CSL All-Conference player,
Zhang was a huge key to the
Spartans’ success this season
and provided senior leadership
the young squad needed.
SETTER
Justin McCartney, LF junior
• 767 assists, 32 blocks,
71 digs, 19 aces; McCartney
helped keep the Scouts on track
and in control on the court. He
helped lead the team to an IHSA
regional title while being an
offensive and defensive threat.

Thomas Cavallaro, GBS junior
• 147 digs, 549 assists, 31 blocks,
eight aces, 94.4 serve percentage;
the CSL All-Conference honoree
played a major role for the young
Titans and will return as a big
contributor next year.
LIBERO
Jacob Danneker, LF senior
• 263 digs, 25 aces, 2.78 serve
receive; Danneker was an NSC All-
Conference honorable mention this
season and helped dig the Scouts
out of some tough situations.
