How to learn to be more communicative
Communication is the basis of our relationships with friends, co-workers, and
even lovers. It’s a wonderful thing when you are on the same page, but
sometimes miscommunication can cause you to have problems with those who
matter the most to you. You need to make sure that you listen, and that you state
your feelings, opinions, ideas, and so on effectively.
Some of the biggest sources of conflict are missed communications. Not
intended, but what consequences there can be!
First thing first: you need to practice listening. Listening does not mean that you
notice every other word and say “uh huh”. You have to learn how to focus on the
speaker and what the message is. You need to really practice this to get good at.
You should set aside at least ten minutes or so every day to catch up on life. You
need to communicate and listen to others about their day. When you get home
from work, ask your roommate, lover, or family how their day was. Then sit or
stand in front of them, with eye contact, and take in every word that they say.
You should never ask and then walk away, it’s rude and the miscommunication or
lack of communication can be a serious strain on friendships and relationships.
When it comes to listening, you need to know the difference between listening
and hearing. Hearing is the act and process that your body goes through for you
to get a message from another’s voice. However, listening is when you focus on
the person and what they are saying with full comprehension of what the
conversation is about. You should make sure that you are able to focus on the
person, before you take the time out to start a conversation.
Next, you need to be able to respond to the person and the conversation. You
should never ramble but just get to the point. You will need to talk while in turn
and not over others. If you are excited, your excitement will become passion
when you wait your turn to speak.
