Together, we'll read their picture books and a biography written about them. We will discuss what elements make the books remarkable works for children. Then the class will create art in the artist's medium, inspired by the illustrator's style or subject matter. In Rip it Up, budding artists will learn the basics of decoupage, using many types of paper products. Students will make a picture frame and refurbish an old flower pot. They will also apply their skills on canvas with either a landscape or a seascape creation. Imagine yourself being inspired by these great artists and more to create your own amazing artwork. In this camp we will encourage each student artist to experiment with different mediums, such as watercolor, acrylic paint, soft pastels, ink, oil pastels, and more. This cool camp for teens will focus on the construction and embellishment of the simple T shape. We will sew and paint a kimono using Oriental inspired designs. We will also learn many different ways a simple T shirt can be designed to make a personal, wearable, works of art. A $20 materials fee is included.
