GOA TO LAUNCH APP-BASED CAB SERVICE
SKI DUBAI’S SUCCESS WITH BREEDING
PENGUINS
If all goes well, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation
(GTDC) will launch its taxi app GoaMiles this month. Around
2,800 licensed taxi drivers in Goa have shown an interest
in using the app and more are expected to follow suit. The
free app will be available for download on both, Android and
iOS platforms. The launch of the app will be beneficial for all
concerned. Tourists will be able to directly contact licensed taxi
drivers. They will also benefit with the taxi fare payment now
becoming easy and secure. Even locals will access the app for
their daily commute. Finally, GoaMiles will help drivers to
acquire more customers by operating and partnering with
existing taxi companies.
Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and
leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa,
is celebrating more than six years of Snow Penguins at
Ski Dubai. The feathery family of 10 King and 10 Gentoo
Penguins arrived at their new, snow-tacular home in
2012 and since then have proved extremely popular with
residents and tourists alike. Now with a colony of 28
penguins, the habitat highlights how Ski Dubai’s Snow
Penguin Breeding Programme has gone from strength
to strength. Ski Dubai’s Snow Penguin Programme is
supported by the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute in
the United States.
