LOVE GOD
As we near the end of the liturgical year,
we listen to Gospel readings from the final
stage of Jesus' ministry−his teaching in
Jerusalem.
This Sunday Jesus is in conversation with
one of the scribes of the temple. In a rare
occurrence Jesus and the scribe agree on
the two greatest commandments−to love
God with all your being and to love your
neighbor as yourself.
In today's selection from Deuteronomy,
Moses gives this teaching to the Israelites
as the core of their life of faith and prayer,
and Psalm 18 echoes this prayer with the
words, "I love you, O LORD, my
strength" (Psalm 18:2).
Jews and Christians agree that our greatest
responsibility is to love the one and only
God, and that we cannot claim to love God
without loving our neighbor as ourselves.

STFX Dessert Challenge
The Buffalo Food Shelf has again challenged the STFX
school and parish to provide 350 desserts by:

These desserts will be for the Thanksgiving Baskets
given out to people in need in OUR community.

PLEASE HELP STFX SCHOOL WIN A GRANT!
Teachers and parents give students the building blocks they need to learn and grow, but sometimes
they can use a little outside help. As school budgets nationwide continue to shrink, The Clorox
Company’s Power A Bright Future grant program steps in to help fund new or ongoing programs that
allow children to play, create and explore.
From November 5, 2012 through December 12, 2012 at 11:59pm EDT, adults and children 13
years of age and older can visit www.PowerABrightFuture.com to vote once a day for St. Francis
Xavier School. Neighbors, friends and family can also vote for their favorite school right from their
phones via text message. (Message and Data Rates May Apply.)
The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $50,000 grand-prize
grant, and the next top vote-getters in the Play, Create and Explore categories respectively will each
be awarded a $25,000 grant. Clorox’s judging panel, will select three additional lucky schools, one in
each category, to win a $25,000 judge’s choice grant.
St. Francis Xavier School can be one of only seven schools nationwide to win a grant, and you can
help push our school to the top. We hope you’ll be able to share our school’s story with your family
and friends, and encourage them to vote for St. Francis Xavier School.

school gym into a musical theater space.

We Have Been Sung
It is a bold goal, but a reachable one: $500,000 in the
coming year toward the mortgage on the St. Francis
Xavier Faith and Education Center. The 2013 Capital
Campaign, Gather Us In, challenges the entire
membership of St. Francis Xavier Church to give. If we
all give just a little, the goal will easily be met, and
regular mortgage payments will continue. Paying off
debt is the only way for our faith community to move
forward, with continuing progress and growth. Won’t
you pledge to grow with us?
Throughout All of History
This is such a busy time of year, and all families face
many demands on their time, talents and treasure.
Yet, things always seem more manageable when we
know what to expect. Here is what is planned for the
Gather Us In campaign:

Called to be Light
Please look for the pledge materials to arrive in your
mailboxes this week. You are encouraged to sit with
the pledge materials and pray about your family’s
contribution to Gather Us In. 2013 will be a year of
trust and truth, guidance and grace for St. Francis
Xavier Church. With your help, the Faith and
Education Center can continue to be a faith home for
all members of this church and community. We are
honored by the love you share in caring for this home.
Did You Know:
400 adults take advantage of twelve religious
education programs held annually at the Center.
Seven programs offer more than 23,000 hours of
religious education and ministry to our youth
and young adults.
Approximately 5,000 people annually attend our
Glory Days event.
Each and every month our Trinity Hall is used for
faith-based and community events.
To the Whole Human Race
The life-giving energy of the St. Francis Xavier parish
has moved so many to speak up, to get involved, and
to take action. Among those who love the Faith and
Education Center are Frank & Kathy Patterson:
St. Francis Xavier is in our hearts. We moved here in
1988 to be closer to this church and school system. Our
older children attended St. Francis Xavier School in the
old building, and we fell in love with it all.
Now, the new Faith and Education Center is a place
where we can continue what we’ve heard and learned
about in church each week. That’s our duty in
spreading the Gospel. This happens through Faith
Formation classes, where we share our faith with the
youth of the parish; and through being active with the
various Youth Group events held each week. Many feel
closer to the Lord while spending time in the Adoration
Chapel or attending Adult Faith Formation classes.
Others express faithful living by being in the choir, or
other music or liturgical ministries.
These are activities and events that happen in our Faith
and Education Center on a regular basis. Where else
could we possibly have the space to accomplish and
accommodate all these people? The building is also a
gathering place for so many other outside groups.
Then, there are the occasional large-scale events such
as Glory Days! It is becoming a wonderful community
event to bring people together and raise money.
Having the space in and around the new site gives our
church community more options, like the softball
tournament and the carnival, where we are happy to
open our arms to all.
There is a welcoming feeling when you walk in the
door, no matter what brings you there. Here, we are
sharing our faith and love of our neighbor. Look at
how many lives we touch every day with this wonderful
space. We are so blessed, and we feel it’s up to all of us
to take care of it.

Crisis Nursery Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, November 10, 8:00-10:00am
A pancake breakfast-fundraiser will be held at the
Buffalo Applebee’s to support the Crisis Nursery
serving Wright County. It’s a win-win proposition
to help promote safe and healthy families in Wright
County while enjoying a pancake breakfast.
Tickets are $7 per plate and can be purchased from
an Advisory Council Member, at the door or call Jill
at 763-271-1674. There will also be a craft and bake
sale. All proceeds go to support the Crisis Nursery
Program whose purpose is to help support and
strengthen families in Wright County.
