Nearing the end of the Subic Sailing Calendar
is the Bonifacio Cup, held this year on
the weekend of November 25th and 26th, 2017.
Fully supported by Lighthouse
Marina, the Bonifacio Cup
is one of the many popular
events held each year by Subic
Sailing.
Although this year, because
of other commitments of the
sailors, numbers were slightly
down, but this did not deter
everyone from having a great
weekend of sailing.
Competing in the regatta this
year were, Selma Star with Jun
Avecilla and crew, Selma with
The winds and
some inefficient
sailing caused Alexa
to retire with a
broken mast.
Ricky Sandoval and crew, Centennial II with Martin
Tanco and Crew, Karakoa with Ray Ordoveza and
crew and Alexa with Eric Jurado and crew.
After the skippers meeting
at the Subic Bay Yacht club,
Racing got underway in earnest
with good healthy winds,
giving an exceptionally good
start. Some excellent sailing by
Jun Avecilla and his crew seen
them take out the honours on
the first day with Centennial II
in Second Place and Karakoa
in third. After the days racing,
everyone gathered at the bar
at the Lighthouse Marina, for
some well deserving drinks,
and light snacks.
