<strong>UPSI</strong> celebrates nearly 100 Media Practitioners<br />

a comprehensive coverage regarding product launches, press<br />

conferences, activities, et cetera.<br />

“We are convinced that with the help and commitment<br />

from our media colleagues, our [<strong>UPSI</strong>] aspirations to becoming<br />

the No.1 education university will be a reality,” he further<br />

elaborated.<br />

The ceremony began with a breaking fast feast, and briefly<br />

veers into the Maghrib prayer before it was followed by a meet<br />

and greet session between <strong>UPSI</strong>’s management and the media<br />

practitioners.<br />

Also attending are, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and<br />

International), Professor Dr. Mohd Sahandri Gani Hamzah,<br />

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni) Affairs, Associate<br />

Professor Dr. Md Amin Md Taff and Registrar, Dr. Hajah Zainab<br />

Othman.<br />

Kuala Lumpur, 5 June – Nearly 100 media practitioners were<br />

celebrated in a “Majlis Berbuka Puasa <strong>UPSI</strong> Bersama Media”<br />

function which was held at the Park Royal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.<br />

Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar<br />

Sabran stated that the breaking fast ceremony was held as a<br />

token of appreciation toward the media’s mutual collaboration<br />

with the representatives of <strong>UPSI</strong>.<br />

“We [<strong>UPSI</strong>] had organized this function as a mean to show<br />

our appreciation and as a sign of gratitude toward the media<br />

for their unabashed support as well as serving as a mean<br />

to further strengthen our relationship with the media,” he<br />

explained.<br />

He also added that after deliberating with colleagues in<br />

the field of media, <strong>UPSI</strong> is in the middle of creating a “City<br />

Campus” in Puchong as a mean to facilitate the media in doing<br />

garner third place in a Three Minute Thesis<br />

(3MT) competition under the Social Sciences<br />

category. The national level competition was<br />

held at the CETAL Hall, Universiti Teknologi<br />

Petronas (UTP).<br />

<strong>UPSI</strong> garners Third Place<br />

Tan Chi Hau garnered the award through his<br />

thesis entitled “Do you love your job?” thus taking<br />

home the prize money worth RM 700.00.<br />

The prizes and awards distribution was handled<br />

by the Vice Chancellor of UTP, Professor Dr.<br />

Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib.<br />

The 3MT competition was held with the aim<br />

of finding a proper representative of Malaysia to<br />

be sent to Australia this coming September. The<br />

competition was opened to all post graduate<br />

students from both public and private universities<br />

who are interested in sharing their dissertations and<br />

findings to the public.<br />

<strong>UPSI</strong> was also appointed as primary host for the<br />

2019 competition with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa<br />

serving as co-organizer.<br />

<strong>UPSI</strong> also sent two other applications under the<br />

Social Sciences and Science and Technology category<br />

respectively: Nor Firdous Mohamed from the Faculty<br />

of Human Development and Muqoyyanah from the<br />

Faculty of Science and Mathematics.<br />
