Rising Star Award
Winner:
Xoe Donovan, General Manager, The Longford House Beefeater and Cannock South Premier Inn
Xoe Donovan joined Whitbread as a part-time receptionist in 2006, while studying surveying at
university. Today, she holds the position of general manager at The Longford House Beefeater and
Cannock South Premier Inn.
Upon realising that she had a passion for hospitality, Xoe’s ambition and determination saw her
quickly progress through the management ranks – from team leader to assistant manager, to deputy
general manager and general manager – all within three years.
Since assuming her latest role just five months ago, Xoe has already delivered a 45 percent
improvement in team engagement scores – including an 87 percent rise in the number of team
members who believe ‘my manager keeps the customers’ needs at the heart of everything we do’ –
and a 20 percent improvement in guest feedback scores.
Xoe has also made time to invest in others within her own team. She provides mentoring and career
coaching for other young women, including developing an existing team leader to take on a deputy
general manager position. As one nominator commented, Xoe is “a true rising star, and one to
watch for the future.”
