In May 2017 we finally moved into
our much anticipated new premises in
Cheyney Road. New facilities including
a multipurpose venue, library, tennis
courts, new classrooms, specialist venues
and lots of parking awaited us. We have
state-of-the-art facilities with sprawling
gardens and space for the children to
learn through play. With our new school,
we were able to design and implement
structures to benefit the development of
each child. Mrs. Caroline Miller (current
Principal) joined our school in October
2017 and brought some wonderful
new ideas to our school. Our Discovery
Centre opened in February this year. This
centre sees the children in Grade 0 and
00 exploring the wonders of Science,
Computer Literacy, Lego construction
and general exploration using the
framework of rigour and relevance. In
addition to the inquiry-based research,
our remedial specialist, Di Holm spends
some quality time with small groups of
children reinforcing essential perceptual
skills. Jacqui Smallbone, our Deputy
Principal, teaches our new Digital
Literacy programme during this time.
Here the children are exposed to iPad’s
and laptops as well as robotics, where
Beebots start us on the exciting journey of
coding. Although we absolutely love and
value having our own space, we do miss
the daily interaction with the college staff
and students as well as the easy access to
the “big facilities”.
