Stafford enjoyed a distinguished career in the U.S. military, including serving<br />
as the assistant Air Force liaison officer to the Federal Aviation Administration<br />
where he was responsible for ensuring Department of Defense initiatives and<br />
programs which were integrated into the FAA’s National Airspace System<br />
modernization effort. He currently serves on the boards of the Joint Center<br />
for Political and Economic Studies, Drexel University, Wesley Theological<br />
Seminary, Venture Philanthropy Partners and Business Executives for National<br />
Security.<br />
George P. Stamas is a senior partner in the <strong>Washington</strong> and New York<br />
offices of the international law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP. A graduate of the<br />
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1973) and the University of<br />
Maryland Law School (1976), Stamas began his career as a special counsel in<br />
the Enforcement Division of the Securities & Exchange Commission. He has<br />
been listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers and Best Lawyers<br />
in America for many years and was previously named by The American Lawyer<br />
as one of the leading 45 lawyers in America under the age of 45.<br />
Stamas was the former vice chairman of the board of Deutsche Banc Alex<br />
Brown, Inc., a founding board member of FTI Consulting (NYSE), and also<br />
serves on the boards of NexCen Brands, Inc., Gridpoint Technologies, Medicity,<br />
Inc., and MidOcean Partners. He is also a venture partner of New Enterprise<br />
Associates and is active in numerous local and national civic affairs. In addition<br />
to being a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he is on the board of<br />
the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Leadership 100, Caves Valley Golf Club,<br />
the Baltimore Orioles, and is an Archon of the International Order of St. Andrew.<br />
Cliff White was a founding partner and the financial architect of NEW<br />
Customer Service Companies Inc., the nation’s leading provider of extendedservice<br />
plans and buyer-protection programs for consumer products. Founded<br />

A graduate of Lehigh University, White started his career as a CPA with Deloitte<br />
Haskins & Sells in New York City. There he was responsible for managing the<br />
field work on the Bank of New York and Mitsubishi International Corporation<br />
audits. Currently he along with two other founding members of NEW are<br />
partners in SWaN Investors, a diversified private investment fund with more<br />
than 20 investments, including the <strong>Washington</strong> Nationals Baseball Club.<br />
He is active on the Board of the Community Foundation of Montgomery<br />
County, where he and his wife, Debbie, have a family fund. White is also on<br />
the foundation’s Sharing Montgomery Grants Committee and a founder and<br />
co-chair of the foundation’s Neighbors in Need Montgomery Fund (a fund<br />
established in response to the current economic downturn focused on helping<br />
those in the county in dire need of housing, food and employment). The Whites<br />
also are donors in Venture Philanthropy Partners, an innovative philanthropic<br />
organization that makes investments in high-performing nonprofit organizations<br />
that serve children and youth of low-in<strong>com</strong>e families in the National Capital<br />
region. In addition, White is the treasurer of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in<br />
Bethesda, Md.
