I can assure you this is not a topic advocated by either the AOBA or ARI board members. We all agree, unanimously, it has to be a decision of the membership and we will protect your right to have a voice in the decision-making process. If the membership does decide to go forward, it will include each and every one of you in an unbiased, non-political method. The summer conference in Louisville is quickly approaching. It’s going to be another incredible conference! This is likely to be my last “President’s Message” to our membership. Although I will serve on the Board of Directors until June, 2005, my term as President is for one year only and will end in June when the new board members are seated. I have enjoyed every single moment of each day serving you. The volume of work is overwhelming for board members at times, but it’s incredibly rewarding at the same time. I want to thank all of you for the opportunity you have given me to serve you. It has been a wonderful experience that will reflect positive memories and one which I will cherish for the rest of my life. Most of all, ARI members, please accept our heartfelt THANKS for your patience! We know these changes haven’t been easy and we appreciate your support in allowing these changes to happen. It certainly has been interesting at the new ARI office. The truck that was transporting our entire office left Kalispell, Montana, right on schedule January 9, 2004, but ran into major winter storms on its way to Virginia. Instead of arriving ten days BEFORE our new office was scheduled to open, it arrived THE DAY we opened for business… January 26th! Can you imagine the chaos of those first few days with a new service, new industry and 450 boxes being unloaded?! Please remember that you must pay voting membership dues ANNUALLY (by March 31) to be able to vote in this year’s election. Do not miss this opportunity to voice your opinions about important industry issues and cast your ballot for the future Board of Directors. There are three vacancies this year on the ARI Board of Directors because the Board is increasing from five to seven members as a result of the 2003 election. Believe it or not, spring is just around the corner and winter will soon be just a fading memory. I look forward to seeing many of you in Reno as well as at the numerous spring shows! 3
