Breeding fees are included in
nine month exclusion of showing
in front of the Judge.
(PART IV. Section 4. W.)
If you purchase, board, or pay fees to
Judges (including Breeding Fees), you
may not show personally show in front
of that Judge during the payment period
and for nine months following final
payment.
“An Exhibitor or Handler, including
his/her immediate family members,
will be disqualified from personally
showing in front of a judge if, during
the nine months prior to the show,
he/she has received from or paid to the
Judge any fees, salary, commission or
any kind of remuneration for selling or
buying any alpacas. If the Exhibitor is
disqualified from personally showing in
front of the Judge, he/she may appoint
a Handler to show an eligible alpaca
on their behalf. Breeding fees, paid to
a judge by an Exhibitor or Handler
or breeding fees paid by a judge to an
owner or Handler, are INCLUSIVE of
this rule and such transactions WILL
result in an owner or handler being
disqualified from showing in front of
a judge that has participated in such a
transaction. This nine-month period
begins from the final date where fees,
salaries, or commissions were paid. For
example, an Owner, and his/her immediate
family members, who purchased
an alpaca, or a breeding, from a judge
where the judge financed the purchase
would not be eligible to show any
alpacas in front of this judge until nine
months after the final payment had
been made.”
Non-Member AOBA Show
Division fee is now $50.00
per farm per event (Youth
are exempt).
(PART V. Section 2. B.)
Exhibitors who are not registered with
the AOBA Show Division must pay a
$50.00 fee per farm per event. Entries
in youth classes are exempt.
Although the appropriate show’s
class fee (such as, Performance,
Obstacle, Showmanship, Costume
Classes, etc.) is payable to the show,
more and more youth are excited about
showing alpacas in the performance
classes. Attending shows is becoming
a “family event”.
To help encourage non-member
Youth to participate in these performance
classes, Youth are exempt from
paying the non-member fee.
New Minimum Requirements
for Shows.
(PART V. Section 2. E.)
Certified Shows must have a minimum
of five different exhibitors showing at
least 36 total entries in a minimum of
three classes.
Wide Participation of industry
members.
(PART V. Section 2. H.)
Although “wide participation” is the
spirit of the Show Division and was
contained in the Mission Statement,
some shows did not practice “wide
participation”. Some shows restricted
their entries to geographical locations
or affiliate members, and in some cases
even offered lower entry fees for their
affiliate members.
Wide participation is still included
in the Mission Statement and is as well
its own freestanding rule.
Judges may judge same show
in same capacity.
(PART V. Section 2. I.)
It is the general consensus that shows
will self regulate and there was no need
to restrict Judges in the capacity in
which they will judge show classes.
All alpacas attending shows
must be ARI Registered.
(PART V. Section 2. K.)
“All alpacas entered or present in the
show must be registered by The Alpaca
Registry, Inc. (ARI). Companion animals
must be registered by ARI to be
on display at the show.”
Hold Harmless for Judges.
(PART V. Section 2. U.)
“Exhibitors and its employees, agents
or assigns agrees to release the AOBA
Judge from any loss, damage, liability
resulting from the placement or disqualification
of any alpaca in the show,
however caused, resulting directly, or
indirectly from exhibitor’s entry or
participation in the show. Every entry at
an AOBA certified show shall constitute
an agreement and affirmation that all
participants, without limitation, shall
accept the Judge’s decision as final.”
Duration of Show/Venue Defined.
(PART V. Section 2. V.)
AOBA Certified Shows begin when
the first alpaca enters the venue that
has been approved as the site per the
AOBA Certification Application for
that show and shall end when the last
alpaca leaves the venue.
Recommended Judges Fees –
(PART V. Section 3. A. 1. & 2.)
professional fees are listed below. This
professional fee is in addition to travel,
lodging and other expenses negotiated
