Introduction<br />

ID Card. Where an ID Card must be<br />

surrendered on demand the member<br />

of staff must give a receipt if the card<br />

is kept. Failure to surrender the card,<br />

when requested to do so, may mean<br />

that you will be requested to leave the<br />

building. If the ID Card is lost, stolen<br />

or destroyed, the student must report<br />

its loss and obtain a duplicate from the<br />

Admissions Office on payment of €10.<br />

The card remains at all times the<br />

property of the Institute.<br />

Portfolio of Prior Experience<br />

& Learning<br />

A Portfolio is required to be submitted<br />

by prospective applicants in order to<br />

provide evidence of Prior Experience<br />

and Learning for module exemptions<br />

to programmes of study in Limerick<br />

Institute of Technology. For advanced<br />

entry applicants to <strong>LIT</strong>, (Stages 2, 3<br />

and 4), (i.e. those who have not yet<br />

commenced a course of study at <strong>LIT</strong>),<br />

the closing date for applications is 1st<br />

May of the year of admission. For<br />

students of <strong>LIT</strong> who can document<br />

Prior Experience and Learning for<br />

Modules encountered at any stage of<br />

the programme of study, applications<br />

will be considered by the Institute on<br />

an on-going basis.<br />

Mature <strong>Student</strong>s<br />

This Institute welcomes mature students<br />

and accepts applications from persons of<br />

mature years, that is, those who are 23<br />

years of age on 1st January, preceding<br />

entry. All mature student applicants are<br />

processed via the CAO. Such<br />

applications, together with documentary<br />

proof of relevant work experience and/or<br />

qualifications, which applicants wish to<br />

have considered, should be submitted to<br />

the CAO in line with dates published on<br />

the CAO website at:<br />

The Institute may, at their discretion,<br />

extend the closing date for mature<br />

applicants for specific programmes.<br />

Mature applicants are advised to contact<br />

the Admissions Office for a list of such<br />
