T
he most effective and least expensive
way to reduce disease and save lives
is easier than you think. According to
scientific studies, simply washing your hands
with soap and water can do more to prevent
diarrhea, death by malnutrition, and dehydration
than any single vaccine or medical
intervention.
As a feeding treat, the pupils were given
meals and chocolate drink which they ate
with gusto. The group also provided drawstring
bag filled with slippers, hygiene packs
and much needed school supplies to kindergarten
students as well as supply teachers
and parents with posters and manuals to
help them promote better hygiene.
Last July 14, the officers and members of the
Rotary club of Cagayan de Oro (RCCDO), its
Rotary Anns, and the Philippine National Police
(PNP) during its Balik-Eskwela and Feeding
program took part in activities promoting
this practice at the St. John Elementary
School of Purok Tabako, Lapasan, Cagayan
de Oro city. RCCDO brought its own expertise
and diverse perspectives to such efforts
by promoting and providing clean water,
proper hygiene and sanitation (WASH).
