Schlanks Beginn Dadaismus oder Dada war eine künstlerische und literarische Bewegung, die 1916 in Zürich entstand. 2003 veranstalteten die Schweizer Monatshefte einen Wettbewerb zu dadaistischen Texten, die dann im Dada-Haus in Zürich ausgestellt wurden. Schlanks Beginn ist einer dieser dadaistischen Texte, die ich im Auftrag des Magazins visualisierte. Dazu beschränkte ich mich auf die Typografie, begleitet von grafischen Elementen. Die Gestaltung entstand nach dem Durchlesen des Textes spontan. Schlanks Beginn ist ein zweideutiger Titel. Entweder bedeutet er einen schlanken Beginn oder den Anfang von Schlank. Schlank als Person gedacht, beginnt mit etwas, das er weitertreibt. Darum die Hervorhebung der Typografie in einem umrandeten Rechteck mit den Quadraten voller Buchstaben. Die Weitertreibung deutete ich in Kreisen an, die mal farbig, mal schwarzweiss daherkommen. Slim’s Beginning Dadaism or Dada was an artistic and literary movement that originated in Zurich in 1916. In 2003, the Schweizer Monatshefte (a Swiss monthly magazine) held a competition about Dadaistic texts, later to be exhibited in the House of Dada in Zurich. Slim’s Beginning is one of those Dadaistic texts I visualized on behalf of the magazine. I limited myself to typography, accompanied by graphic elements. The design developed spontaneously after reading the text. Slim’s Beginning is (in German) an ambiguous title. It either means a slim beginning or the beginning of slim. Slim imagined as a person starts to do something and keeps on going with it. Thence the emphasized typography in a bordered rectangle with squares full of letters.
